OLDER HEADSET WITH THROAT MICROPHONE

This may be Russian-made but was obtained from China. It's in pretty rough shape but possibly still serviceable - it was probably surveyed and released through whatever channels the Chinese military uses to dispose of surplus military property. These were typically used by the crews of multi-engine aircraft (such as IL-14 and AN-12/Y-8 transports) but have probably been superseded by headsets using boom-type microphones. Films and photographs from the '80s definitely show Russian aircrew wearing these, but it's not certain exactly when they were phased out (if they have been, completely).

The headset itself is very light but the comm cord is surprisingly heavy (and long, and stiff).

The throat microphone is exactly the same as on flying helmets. These mikes appear to be issued with a spare elastic strap, as the elasticity seems to go pretty quickly (almost gone, in this case).
