Colin started on SNL in 1995 as a writer and featured player and in 1997 became a full-time cast member. Some of his most memorable characters include "Joe Blow" , "Lenny the Lion" and "The Thank You Guy". His most notable recurring sketch is as himself in "Colin Quinn Explains the New York Times." In April 1997, while performing in Jim Breuer's sketch "The Joe Pesci Show," Jim (Joe Pesci) and Colin (Robert DeNiro) were confronted by the real thing!

Colin debuted as Weekend Update Anchor on 10 January 1998 after Norm MacDonald was released from his duties. Both have said that despite the way Norm was yanked from the weekly feature (by OJ lover Don Olemeyer) there were no hard feelings and both were happy with Colin's new position. Colin will continue as anchor as he begins his third season with the show.
