'SNL' star heads to Broadway
NEW YORK, Aug. 27
(UPI) - Colin Quinn is the new anchor sitting behind
the ``Saturday Night Live'' Weekend Update desk, but these days
he's
reporting live from Broadway. The stand-up comedian-turned-actor
is
starring in the one-man show ``An Irish Wake'' at the Helen Hayes
Theatre. He pokes fun at his neighbors from his native Brooklyn
as they
gather in the 1970s at their friend's wake. Like Jackie Mason and
John
Leguizamo before him, Quinn turns racial stereotypes into
humorous
anecdotes that keep the audience rolling. The show runs through
Sept.19,
when Quinn heads back to the ``SNL'' set at Rockefeller Center.
Quinn first performed ``An Irish Wake'' three years ago at
Manhattan's
Irish Arts Center. Back then, the one-man jokefest was called
``Sanctifying Grace.'' Edited by Zlati Meyer UPI-New York
