Dear Visitor:
I have begun setting up my Thriller Cemetery for the year 2001. Updates will be
posted here as it progresses.
I have already finished most of it, and here is just a small bit of what I have
done so far. I did change some things such as my coffin.....I nailed Lisa
Marie's tomb stone on the head of the coffin and made a fat ugly body to lay in
the coffin. (just my way of expressing my feelings for Lisa which haven't
changed yet). Ha.
You remember on the right side of the porch where I had that mural with the
family crept last year? I still have that in the same place, but on the right
side of the porch I now have black tar paper nailed up and today I painted a
large haunted house with ghost, pumpkins, and I'm going to hang swinging bats in
front of it. I have a few other plans for that area too, and will post them as I
get them done.
As you enter my yard, I don't have the archway as I did last year. This year I
have a rot iron gate that is set up diagonally with the walkway that runs up to
my porch. The gate is all scrolly and decorated with cobwebs and spiders and on
the top center I hung my sign that says "Pet Cemetery". Oh and I also
hung a large black bat in the middle of the gate too. The gate looks like the
old fashioned type that you see in old cemetery's. I did originally have plans
to put my original old tomb stone out in my cemetery this year too, but didn't
want to disturb it out in my backyard....after all....it does look so cool out
in my backyard next to my pond. :)
Out on the front gate before you enter my yard are the signs saying "Ghost
Hotel" and "Enter At Your Own Risk". On the other side of the
gate facing the street hangs the other sign saying "Pet Cemetery". Of
course I still have ghost hanging all over the yard, and my large wooden statue
of Michael. It wouldn't be my Thriller cemetery without my adorable MJ! LOL But
I did do something different behind him this year too. I set up a door and
covered it with black tar paper and painted a skeliton and pumpkins etc on it.
The skeliton is standing right behind Michael behind his shoulder. It looks
pretty cute. :)
Update October 10, 2001
Last night I went shopping for more Halloween decorations, to replace some of my
old ones that had been ruined 2 years ago. I bought a skull mask and it is now
on the body of Lisa Marie in the coffin. I put a bloody glove on her hand and
nailed it to the top side of the coffin so it looks like she had been clawing
her way out of the coffin and possibly been buried alive. Hummmm....not a bad
thought. Ha..
I also bought white silky cobwebs and have begun putting them all over the
cemetery. I first put some of them on the top of Lisa's tomb stone and draped
them down over the face of the skull...and added a large black widow spider
crawling out of the empty nose socket of the skull. :)
I also bought a blow up plastic ghost that I tied to the door that Michael is
leaning against. I then began stringing my little white lights up the side of
the rot iron gate, and around the signs hanging out on the fense, then along the
fence and crossed over the scare crow. I will be adding many more lights as I
continue decorating.
I drapped more cobwebs on that front gate and have them now all over my front
fence, and hanging down over the haunted house I painted on that mural
yesterday. Also on most of the tomb stones.
One new feature I have added to my cemetery this year is this:
Chuck my roommate brought home to me a large rocking chair this summer. Why I
still haven't figured out yet, but never the less he did. This rocking chair is
a huge wooden one that I had no place in my home to put it. Our house isn't
large mind you, so him even thinking of bringing this monstrosity home...boggled
my mind. LOL Anyway....after it sitting for 3 days smack in the middle of my
living room, I said this has got to go! So I moved it out on my front porch
until Chuck could find something to do with it. But knowing Chuck as well as I
do...I knew that sucker would sit there on my front porch until it rotted. Ha.....and sure enough....it has sat there all summer collecting dust....until
today. :) Today I moved it out into my front yard and made another body that
looks like an old lady ghost. I put a big orange dress on her and a hat with
flowers....and made her sort of chubby. I made her face like a ghost and then
put some gloves with the tips painted red like fingernails on her...and then
covered her and the chair with a lot of cobwebs.
My final touch to this new display was a sign I made and put at the old ladies
feet. It says:
"When is the last time you visited YOUR grandmother? Do so while you still
can. Please help prevent neglect of the elderly. Thank you!"
I do have my tomb stone in the ground already, but won't have to do much
decorating of it this year. I put it in the new diamond shaped flowerbed that is
in the middle of my front yard. That flowerbed has a pole with 2 round globe
lights, a white statue of Zues, and several colorful flowers and plants. I did
add cobwebs to the lights and other things in the flowerbed so it looks spooky.
I really don't know what else I could do to make my grave look prettier?
LOL Unless I add that heart from Michael that says "Love Michael".
Yeah...I think I will add that...and maybe another beautiful bouquet of flowers.
:)
Final Update Oct 31, 2001
Today the final touches to the cemetery were completed. I am listening to
Thriller as I type out these updates. Setting the mood more or less. Ha.
I put up lights around Michael, and all around the coffin, and other areas of
the yard. I carved a pumpkin and sat it on the porch steps with a lighted
candle. I sat my animated scare crow next to it. Behind them on a table on the
porch are two animated witches and the dancing skeleton that wears a tux and
dances to the song "Puttin On The Ritz". Above the pumpkin hangs
another animated witch flying on her broom stick.
It is only 8:40 pm and already we have had many trick or treaters. Not only the
kids love the cemetery, but I have had great comments of praise from the adults.
:)
Knocking on the door...more trick or treaters....so until next year......HAPPY
HALLOWEEN!
