TX - Obits from the Vernon Daily Record 5-2-2000 Emil Kester Emil Kester, 87, died Monday, May 1, 2000 in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eastview Cemetery with the Rev. John Klappenbach officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. Kester was born June 20, 1912 in Odell a son of the late C. M. and Lou Starr Kester Jr. He married Lois Carlton on Oct. 23, 1930 in Altus Okla., and she preceded him in death on July 31, 1992 A lifetime resident of Wilbarger County, he was a farmer and rancher and served for 10 years as manager of the W. T. Waggoner Estate dehydrating plant at Odell. He was a member of the Odell and Chillicothe school boards for 30 years and an adult 4-H leader for more than 40 years. He was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Surviving are a daughter, Beth Collins of Vernon; two sons, Max Kester of Vernon and Reggie Kester of Ardmore Okla.; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
