THE JOE BROWN HIGH SCHOOL HOMEPAGE

1923 - 1992

Joe Brown High School, located in West End, Atlanta, Georgia, opened its doors in 1923 as a junior high school, and in 1947 became a full fledged high school. The school was named after Joseph Emerson Brown, the Governor of Georgia during the Civil War, and the school took the nickname of the Brown High Rebels. In 1992 the doors were closed in a nostalgic ceremony, but in the late 1990's the school was renovated and opened as a middle school.
