My wife met Miss Margaret May Swain today at a yard sale in Decatur. When my wife (Rosie) learned that Miss Swain had taught at Brown, Rosie mentioned that I was a Brown alum, and Miss Swain gave Rosie two Laureates, one for the Class of 1959, the other for the class of 1960. If anyone from either of these two classes has lost their Laureate you can have one of these. Miss Swain also gave Rosie a Brown High Choir 1954-1955 scrapbook she had made. Anyone wanting to look at it is welcome. Mike Reily, Class of 1953.
Hay, Does anybody remember Lela and Bird Dog? And, what were they famous for??? What happened to the Hidden Inn?

It's been almost 45 years since leaving the "hallowed hallways" of BHS. Hope those of us left are doing fine- I am looking forward to the May 9, 1998 reunion.

Thanks for the notice on the Brown High web site. We always were a progressive bunch, weren't we?
I have appreciated the friendship and support of my class of '56 over the years from afar, especially when I ran for the US senate in Colorado. I'm glad to be back home, y'all!

Love this opportunity to "touch" others from Brown! Love & Light to all!

If any of you see/talks to Joe Walls, tell him Don Smith ('61) said "Hi". One year I taught at Therrell High and also coached cross country. Joe was a good friend, but I got transferred to Southwest. Now I am (since 1976) at Decatur High (formerly our basket ball rival at state). If you know of anyone from the class of 1961, I would like to know where they have been and what they are doing. Maybe we'll have a reunion one of these years.

Glad to see a Brown High web page. I would like to hear from 1948-1953 grads.
Douglas (Skip) Fowler
Thanks to Doug Fowler for the 'heads-up' on the existance of this fantastic web page. Because of this page, I've discovered the monthly reunion breakfasts and you can bet that any future visits to the Atlanta area will be scheduled around it. In the mean time, if anyone in the group happens to be active in the Experimantal Aircraft Association and are planning to attend the annual convention at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, be sure to look me up at the EAA Pavilion. If I happen to be out, someone wearing a red hat and shirt will know where to find me. My e-mail address is "jfriddell@compuserve.com". Drop me a note sometime. I don't get as much news about the Brown High Rebels here in the Chicago area as I would like.
Julian Friddell
As Editor, I am looking for "special memories" from the classes of 1948-1952 to be published in the July edition of "Rebelation 2000". If any of you were in these classes and have thoughts you might like to share (perhaps a special teacher memory, a lost high school sweetheart, graduation stories, football or any sport memories, or whatever) I will be happy to include them in this edition (or even the next, due out in January, 1999). The classes will be having a 50th reunion June 9-10, 2000. There are wonderful things planned and I know it will be a hugh success. I am on the roster. You can email me direct, or post your memories on the bulletin board and I will get it either way. Thanks!

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Fred Trainer, Frances Walker, or Anne Hays, please reply at mmouse@onramp.net. Gayle Milton (McLean)
So glad to find this web site and get information on the Hallowed Hallways of Brown High. If anyone has info on a 35 year reunion for the class of '64 please let me know.

My name is john w. king class of 67. several years ago, while @ a business lunch @ palm restaurant in the swissotel atlanta, a topic of discussion was native states, cities, etc. as 1 of the last native atlantans i was shocked to be @ a table of 5 & to my amazement not only was there another native ga., atlantan, but even more shocking, a alum of joe brown high. his name was virgil tillander, i believe virgil stated he was a 50's grad. virgil is employed by ackerman & co. as director of properties, phone # 770 913-3983. hope this will be of interest to you. the web site was also somewhat of shock, given that the title is joe brown, but it should not have been.
all the best, john
This from William P. (Bill) Baker, Brown class of May 1950
I have been attempting for a long time to reach the Joe Brown Web Page, but to no avail. Last week I upgraded my compuserve program from 3.01 to 4.01 and went straight to the web page on my first attempt. You have a DAMN good home page, and I did enjoy reading it.
I am going to make an attempt to attend one of the Bi-Monthly meetings as soon as I can. Hope to be able to work out the one for the 9th of September. I am due to fly to Seattle that same day. Need to check my flight schedule, but believe the flight leaves around 4PM. Would hate to drive down there for the meeting and then come back to Cumming only to turn around again and head back to the airport for the PM flight. That would only add about an extra 100 miles or so on these old bones.
Currently both the wife and I are retired and living on what is left of her family farm where she grew up. Carolyn is a member of the class of 1953 from the old Cumming High School. She is not a REBEL but can be mean as hell when called for.
My trip to Seattle is for a Navy reunion of my old ship the USS Baltimore. We have one every year and rotate between the east coast and the west coast.
I am also the current treasurer for the Brown Group of 1948-49-50-51, and we are working toward a big blow out in the year 2000 which will be held at the ACC.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Bill

Small world it is! I just read John King's ('67) note concerning lunch at the SwissHotel where another alumni was at the table. Guess what? I work closely with Virgil Tillander at Ackerman & Co. Great Guy! Both my parents graduated from Brown as did three of my sisters. Carolyn Waddell Synder ('61), Bevery Ann Waddell Waldrip ('63) and Marie Waddell Sims ('65). I ran the New York Marathon many years ago ('86) with Doris Von Glahn Hey ('67). This web site is great! Gloria Jean Waddell ('67)
went to the breakfast yesterday and had a Great time. Although I don't know most of them it was a interesting time spent with guys that could relate to the old West End. Buddy Towery was the only one from my school, SouthWest Hi, I graduated in 1954.
