Family-Placed Death Notice

Jerry B. Torbett, 71, of Lithia Springs, died Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Atlanta Medical Center. Jerry was born in Kingsport, Tennessee on December 9, 1933. He graduated from Brown High School where he lettered in football. He attended Georgia Military Academy for one year of college preparatory and received the All South Defensive End Honor. He attended Georgia Tech and remained an avid supporter of Tech Football holding season tickets for over 40 years. He was a US Navy Veteran. He became a master electrician and was employed by several electrical contractor in the Greater Atlanta area and was an active member of the IBEW Local 613. He was a member of Gordon Street Baptist Church. He was a hot rod and foreign car enthusiast. He is survived by his brother, William Dale Torbett and his wife, Floy of Marietta, GA; his nephew, Dale Torbett of Atlanta, GA; and niece, Lisa (Torbett) Vanderwoud and husband, Chuck of Palatine, IL. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2005 at 11:00 AM at H. M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill Chapel. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30328. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that contributions be made to the American Red Cross Katrina Hurricane Fund, the Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by H. M.
