CAST In Stone

Road Rally

CAST In Stone Rally will count toward the Detroit Region, Central Division, and National Championships this year. It will be run according to the 2001 SCCA Road Rally Rules for Tour events. It will be a straightforward TSD tour event with NO TRAPS (timing or course following). The route will cover about 250 miles in portions of Ogemaw, Arenac, Gladwin, Roscommon, and Clare counties in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula. The road surface will be approximately 30% paved and 70% unpaved. NO TWO-TRACKS WILL BE USED ON THIS EVENT!! All roads chosen can be traveled at rally speeds in an average family car. All controls will be open controls.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Registration and Safety Inspection
12:01 P.M. Car #1 Starts Rally
9:30 P.M. – 10:00 P.M. Car #1 Finishes Rally (time is approximate)
11:00 P.M. – 11:30 P.M. Preliminary results posted (time is approximate)
11:30 P.M. – 12:00 A.M. Awards presented (time is approximate)

LOCATION

HEADQUARTERS/
START Super 8 Motel in West Branch, MIExit 212 (Cook Road) North off Interstate 75 behind Tanger Outlet Mall
RESTARTS Two time-of-day restarts in the Houghton Lake/Prudenville area with a transit zone in each section for additional breaks.
FINISH Jerry’s JointOn Cook Road in West Branch approximately 1.5 miles north of the Start.

MOTEL

Super 8 Motel (517) 345-8488 Sixteen nonsmoking doubles and four smoking doubles will be held until 5/25 for 6/8 and 6/9 at the rate of $64.88 per night plus tax

NOTE: Any team with at least one member of a Central Division region will be scored as both Divisional and National by paying the National Entry fee.

CLASSES

This event will use the same classifications (Equipped, Limited, Stock, Rookie) and definitions provided in the 2001 SCCA Road Rally Rules with the exception of a Novice class for Regional/Divisional purposes where the total number of rallies run by the driver and navigator combined cannot exceed six. Equipment restrictions for this class are the same as Stock class.
