Dear Parents, I received the letter Marie and Eddie20 wrote and was glad to hear from you. I am well and feeling fine at present. I received quite a bit of mail from home lately, and I think most all the letters you send it takes a hell of time to reach me. The weather is a snappy one, snow and more snow, we are still plugging away the same as ever. There are a few boys from home with me here but are scattered. Kennely21 and Balbier22 are still in the Company. So Hellebuyck23 is back in the States, glad to hear. I did not hear or see nothing of him since we landed. Thought he had kicked the bucket. Luck for him, it may be a long time before I may see N.Y. but lets hope it will be soon. The war may be over in France, but it is not over here in the wild of Russia. This is not the Western Front, it is hardly no front at all. I think I will close for now, for I cannot think of anything. With best wishes and regards to all, I am your son, Clem.
PS: I did not receive any mail from Alfred while I have been in Russia. Good luck to all. See you soon. So Long! Dont worry, Ill be there some day. |
