“The National Congress of Vietnamese in America ( NCVA ) considers its mission to advance the cause of Vietnamese Americans in a plural but united America- e pluribus unum - which is defined as: full participation as responsible citizens in the political process of this great nation known as the United States of America and loyalty to the best traditions of the Vietnamese people ( including the language, customs, family orientations, respect for education, community spirit, and social service among others ). NCVA is convinced that based on such a springboard, the Vietnamese Americans will be able to make great contributions to America while retaining their distinct cultural personality as a people. This can only foster self-confidence and trust that their success in America will be emulated in the old country through increased democratization, transparency, and liberalization from the shackles of the past.”
