The Metro Archives site, sponsored by the non-profit Friends of Archives group, is dedicated to providing historical, genealogical, and other information about Nashville, Davidson County, and the surrounding Middle Tennessee area. Online resources at this time include an Index to Wills and Will Books, Marriage Records, County Court Abstracts, Tax lists, and Cemetery Records.

USGenWeb is a noncommercial, free access, volunteer effort to make Internet resources available for genealogical research on a county and state basis, nationwide. The Davidson County site, hosted by Richard White, offers links to online records and resources for Middle Tennessee. Through this site one may link to Web sites for each county in Tennessee.
3. Middle Tennessee Genealogical Society
The Middle Tennessee Genealogical Society, Inc., or MTGS, is a family history society dedicated to sharing original family and historical information. MTGS is a non-profit organization serving the forty counties of Middle Tennessee and was formed in 1987. The Middle Tennessee Journal of Genealogy & History, published quarterly, includes articles of genealogical and historical interest pertaining to Middle Tennessee. Bimonthly meetings are held in Nashville, Tennessee, on the third Saturday of January, March, May, July, and September.

For anyone with an interest in the city, the Nashville Public Library site offers a variety of information and links. For the historian and genealogist, online resources include several searchable local history indexes. The TSLA Web site provides a wealth of information. Online resources abound and the site is updated often. Information can be found for County Records, Census Records, Vital Records, Military Records, Maps, Photos, and Manuscript Collections.

The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), developed by the USGS, contains information about almost 2 million physical and cultural geographic features in the United States. One can locate cemeteries, towns, rivers, creeks, churches, schools, etc., in any county or state in the US.

Rootsweb's mission is: To make large volumes of data available to the online genealogical community at minimal cost. To provide support services to online genealogical activities such as USENET newsgroup moderation, mailing list maintenance, surname list generation, etc. Mailing lists for many surnames, counties, states, etc., including Davidson Co., TNDAVIDS-L@rootsweb.com .
8. Metro Historical Commission

The Metro Historical Commission is a municipal historical preservation agency working to document history, save and reuse buildings, and make the public more aware of the necessity and advantages of preservation. The commission consists of fifteen citizens appointed by the mayor. It was created in 1966 and has operated with a professional staff since 1973.

The official Web site of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. Information on Government, Business, Law and Order, and Community. The Metro Planning Commission's Mapping Services and Geographic Information Systems allows public access to property maps. One may search the database by owner, address, or parcel number and view online property maps.
