Three Presidents
Three U.S. Presidents had Tennessee and Nashville connections. Andrew Jackson (President from 1829-1837) made his home at The Hermitage near Nashville and is buried there today. James K. Polk (President from 1845-1849) was a former governor of Tennessee. Soon after his presidency he died in Nashville and is buried on Nashville's Capitol Hill. Andrew Johnson (President from 1865-1869) was Military Governor of Tennessee during the Civil War. He is buried at Greeneville, Tennessee. The postcards below were published early in the twentieth century.
