Ni Hao (Hi)

My Mommy and Daddy are leaving Sunday 8/9 for China. Asiana Flight 221 @ 11:50 p.m. from JFK with a refuel in Anchorage, Alaska at around 4:00 a.m. and a stopover in Seoul, Korea at 6:35 a.m. on Aug. 11th. They will leave Seoul at 9:20 a.m. Asiana Flight 3335 and arrive in Shanghai at 10:10 a.m. I hope they get some sleep on the way over because once they get me....

When they get to Shanghai they will be met by their guide and translator Jack. I've heard that he loves babies, that's good for me! Mommy and Daddy will spend the night at the Hongqiao (Rainbow) Hotel in Shanghai, do some sightseeing, and probably do some shopping :)

On August 12 they will board a train with the rest of their group, Amy and Phil, Sharon and her Aunt Rita and Gary, for a ride through the China countryside to Nanjing. That's my hometown! Sharon, Amy & Phil's babies are also coming from the same orphanage so I will have two of my friends with me!

August 13 is the big day!! (But remember for those of you in America I am 12 hrs ahead of you. ) Lots of Mommy's APC friends call it "Gotcha Day" Can you guess why? I get to meet my Mommy and Daddy for the first time!! A few weeks ago another couple was here to pick up their daughter, saw me, and wrote to Mommy. They described me as cute (ah shucks), bright-eyed, alert, healthy and CHUBBY (hey...wait a minute..) Mom's kinda worried about the chubby part, she hopes I fit into all the great clothes she's bought for me. :)

After we meet, which will be so exciting, we have to do lots of "official" stuff. They have to adopt me, get important papers notarized and then wait a few days for my passport to be ready. During this time they have to answer some important questions about me. Why do they want to adopt me? Promise to never abandon me and talk about my new life. Once the adoption takes place we will be a family...a forever family. Yippy! :) :)

From August 14 to August 16 we will take time to get to know one another (and Mommy and Daddy will be doing alot of fumbling around new parent stuff I'm sure ). We will be staying at the Central Hotel in Nanjing. During that time we will take in some sights and go shopping! On Saturday August 15 we will celebrate my Daddy's birthday....shhh don't tell him but I already bought him a special present and card.

My passport will be ready on August 17 and we will leave my hometown to start our journey to my new life in America. I will take my first plane ride! China Southern Airlines flight 3508 @ 7:55 p.m. arriving in Guangzhou at 9:55 p.m.

Once we arrive in arrive in Guangzhou (August 17) we have to go the Quarantine Office and then we get to go stay at the famous White Swan Hotel....also known by APC as the White Stork. That's because there are lots of families just like ours that will be staying there. Mommy already has a few names of people she writes to who will be over there at the same time. She hopes to be able to meet them in person and their babies too! The next day we have to go the American Consulate and Mommy and Daddy have an interview similiar to the one they had in Nanjing; only this time for the good ole US of A. All this fuss over little me.

While we are at the WS there are lots of cool things we can do while we wait for my Visa to be ready. We hope to visit the Shop On the Stairs, which is right down the street from us. It IS a shop on the stairs and Sheila is the nice lady who runs it. Mommy and Daddy hope to get chops with my Chinese and American name. Plus I'm sure they will buy lots of other great things to bring home!

On August 19 we can go and get my Visa. Yey!!! This will be our last night in China so I am sure we will do something special. We will also take the famous "red couch" picture" That's where me and all my new travelmates will sit (well try) and have a "group" shot done. It is a China adoption tradition!

August 20 I will get on a big plane to come to America. Mommy and Daddy already have my ticket for home! It has my Chinese name, Qin Feng. We will take Asiana flight 3365 leaving at 1:40 p.m. I will be sad to leave China, but I am so happy to be coming to America. I know there are lots of people who can't wait to meet me! We will have a stopover in Seoul at 6:05 p.m. and leave for New York, Asiana Flight 222 at 7:20 p.m. We will arrive in NYC at 8:00 p.m. on the August 20, the same day we left China! Boy will we be tired.

When we get to the airport my grandma has arranged for us to be driven home in a limousine! WOW! The limousine driver has already told grandma how excited he is to be taking me to my new house. I can't wait and I can't wait to meet you all!

Mommy says that right now I am sitting 1/2 way around the world and have no idea that my little life is going to change in a few days. This is true. I know my Mommy and Daddy wish to thank every single one of you for your love and support throughout this long journey. You are all very special. See you in America!!

Love,
Morgan (Feng)
