Here is a great photo of Private Fredrick Harrsen of Company C during the War. Fredrick was born in Germany in 1876 and immigrated to the United States. Following the War, he settled down in the Bronx, NY and work as a plumber. Family members affectionately gave him the nickname of "Fritz". He later moved to Ohio and that is were his final resting place is at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, Ohio. (thanks to David H. for sharing this photo of his Grandfather)

Another great photo from Company B at Camp Thomas, Chickamauga Park. Pictured in the photo are Corporal Albert L. Mendel, 1st Sergeant Daniel M. Ranlet and another name on back that looks like David Williamson. The other soldier is unknown. (thanks to John L. for supplying this rare photo).

A great image of First Sergeant Daniel M. Ranlet from the year 1900. This is a wonderful charcoal drawing of him done following the War. He is drawn with full pack and rifle. He has a 9 on his collar and what looks like his medals on his chest. This drawing was sent in by his son Daniel Ranlet. The original drawing was damage and has been electronically repaired by Sergeant's Ranlet's grandson Dick. (thank you both Daniel and Dick for supplying this drawing).

These next 2 items are Post Exchange Checks from the 9th N.Y. Vol. Inf. The first check was issued to and signed by Henry P. Willis, a private/ wagoner in Company B. The second check was issued the very next day to Daniel M. Ranlet, a sergeant in Company B. These Post Exchange Checks were issued to soldier by the Company Commander. The soldier them promised to pay back the amount he borrow at the next pay day. These Checks were issued on June 23, 1898 and June 24, 1898 while the 9th N.Y. was at Camp Thomas.
