Companies E, F, G & H

Here is a photo of Private Henry Schuppert of Company E. Henry was born in New York City around 1873 to German immigrants. Henry served not just with the 9th NY but he also served with the 11th US Infantry during the Spanish American War. Family lore also states that he might have fought with a cavalry unit during the Indian Wars (research pending).  The photo below is when Henry was a member of the 7th US Cavalry, Troop C.. Sadly, Henry died at a very young age of 39 years in 1913. (thanks to John M.  for sharing this  photo of his Great Grandfather)

Here's a wonderful photo, I believe, taken at Camp Townsend, Peekskill, NY. The soldier on the left is Charles York Judson. Charles was 21 years old when he enlisted on May 2, 1898 in New York City. He was mustered in as a Private in Company E on May 20, 1898. Charles was promoted to Corporal, July 27, 1898. Then, just two days later he was mustered in as a Second Lieutenant, then commissioned to the position on July 30, 1898. He was mustered out of the company on November 15, 1898 in New York City.  (thanks to Dave S. for supplying this photo of his Great Grandfather).

Here is a pastel or chalk drawing of Private Guy Wilbur of Company H. Guy was born on August 18, 1873 in Hamden, Delaware County, New York. He was the only child of Alexander N. Wilbur and Elizabeth C. Fuller. He was married twice, little is known of the first wife, his second marriage was to Morgieanna Davis in 1905 and they had 3 children. In 1941, Guy adopted an infant boy, Arthur Niles Wilbur, and raised him on his own until Guy's death in 1952. Guy descendants include 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren. During his lifetime, Guy worked many jobs such as a Meat Salesman, Stableman, Proctor in a Boardinghouse, Dairy Farmer, Peddler and Proprietor of the Red Wing Station Tourist Camp. Guy's Family Tree can be traced back to Revolutionary War Veteran Oliver Wilbur (1755-1837) and also William Wildbore (1630-1710) who was one of the first Wildbores recorded in the U.S. in Boston, Mass. Guy passed away on May 21, 1952 at the age of 79, he is buried at Hamden Cemetery, Hamden, New York. (thanks to Lauren R. for supplying this photo of  Guy Wilbur).
