Union Intermediate High School

    Welcome to

    Mr. Polson's

    Parent page

This page is designed to provide information about WHAT?? goes on in Mr. Polson's History Classes.   Mr. Polson teaches Honors U.S. History (10th grade) and US History (10th grade) at Union Intermediate High School. Union Public Schools are located in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

The HOME page will keep you and the students up to date as to what assignments have been assigned in the current chapter and when the next Test will be given.

The best way to contact me about your student is to e-mail me at p38fan@prodigy.net . You may use the link at the bottom of this page if you have questions or your student is having problems in my class. Please e-mail me if you are reading this page so that I will have your e-mail address if I need to contact you. Believe it or not your student may not have shared your e-mail address correctly with me, I know it's hard to believe.
It is easier for me to respond to e-mail than for us to play phone tag although I am certainly available for phone conferences or conferences at school just get in contact with me if you feel the need!

If you are interested in knowing how I manage the classroom you may want to go to my Syllabus Page for a brief summary of the rules.

A word of Caution, your student may be using the computer to get information off of the Internet for my class or other school work! Or the internet may be a source of entertainment for your student.  The internet can be a useful tool, or a source of entertainment, but it can lead to exposure of information or people that you do not want for your student.  I urge you to exercise the proper guidance of your students online time.  A good method of control is to suddenly appear behind the screen when your student is on the Web and see what areas have been searched.  You can also review what is saved in the favorite sites area.  Or simply check the history area to see what has been viewed in the current nights research.  There should be a list of every site that has been viewed.  Note: this can be erased, so if the list is short you should be curious why the list is short.  There are also several types of software that can help you monitor what your student has access to but nothing will relieve you of the need to see for yourself from time to time.  I don't want to scare you because the net can be a wonderful tool for research, but there are sites where the information is more than just of questionable value and there are people that you don't want them chatting with on the net.  This is a REAL DANGER so please work with your student while they are online!

        ASSIGNMENTS
If you want to check to see what assignments will be assigned to your student you may go to the assignment page for your student.  On that page are listed all assignments that will come out of the text for the entire year.

        Example:

If the assignment number assigned was assignment number 8, you would look at the assignment page left side for number 8.  To the right of the number you would see something that looked like this  8.1 (2,3,5 & 6)  8.2 (1,2 & 3).  What that means is your student needs to read Chapter 8 sections 1 and 2 and then answer question numbers 2, 3, 5 and 6 at the end of Chapter 8, section 1; and questions 1,2 and 3 at the end of Chapter 8, section 2.
