Course Objectives:

1.)To give each student an understanding of how his or her world is affected by outside influences.

2.)To give each student enough information, experience and training to allow for involvement in the community.

3.)To examine this nation’s history in order to bind us together by gaining a common knowledge of events, problems, achievement, failures, strengths, weaknesses, ideals and peoples.

Calculation of Grades:

Test averages are weighed as 60% of 9 weeks or quarter grades.Homework assignment averages are weighted as 40% of 9 weeks or quarter grades.

Semester grades are calculated as follows:

Semester Test weighted as 10% of semester grade

Each quarter grade is 45% of the remaining90% of the semester grade.

Schools grading Scale:

Aequal to or grater than 90%

Bless than 90% but greater than 80%

Cless than 80% but grater than 70%

Dless than 70% but greater than 60%

Fless than 60%

Test grades are weighted more heavily, because it is on tests that the student demonstrates his or her command of the subject matter. It should be noted that it will be difficult to pass the course if homework is neglected, both areas are important.
