RIDING LESSONS AND CLINICS

Confidence to ride the trails and enjoy horses safely. That's my goal with lessons. I specialize in teaching beginning riders the basics of horse handling and riding.

I also help people who are interested in learning the ropes of competitive trail and endurance riding.

We begin with leading the horse and basic grooming. Riding begins on the lunge line with the student learning seat and balance.

A good, independent seat is the foundation for everything else you will do as a rider.

Pictured above is our mare, BRA DAfina Alimar, or Ali. You will learn to ride on Arabian horses. Forget what you've been told about them not being good for beginners.

Our premiere lesson horse is Mi Zab Memorial, who only at age 9, has already taught many people the fundamentals of riding. He's worked with children and adults, some of whom have never seen a real live horse before.

Zab is very fond of children and is patient with adults too!

Lessons are $30 for a 1 hour session, or 4 lessons for $100. I do prepare gift certificates for lesson packages. Students are asked to complete a survey of their skills and goals with horses. Students often are sent home with videos to enhance their learning. I also take photos and create an online photo album so the student can monitor his or her progress. It also allows me a good visual way to assess a student.

I will come to a student's home for special help with the student's own horse.

Distance riding lessons are the same price, but the lessons last at least two hours. Distance lessons include learning the basic premise of competitive trail and endurance, terminology, pacing, use of a heart rate monitor, equine nutrition for distance sports, tack and saddle fit, vet check strategies, and a mock 15 mile CTR with a judge's score sheet. I encourage students to buy a lesson package for distance riding as it is just too much to learn in one session, even for advanced riders.

For two or more students, I can do a weekend clinic at the farm for $75 per person. Distance riding students usually bring their own horses, but I can provide a horse, also.

I am available for clinics for riding clubs. Half day or all day format, starting at $25 per rider with a minimum of $150.

We welcome visitors. Come meet our herd and talk with us about your goals as a rider. We don't have a fancy stable with indoor riding ring, but we provide basic, quality instruction on safe horses at a reasonable price. Our goal is to see that you and your horse enjoy riding!
