Hello!  We are
Dean and Maureen Singleton of Sebastopol, California.

We are so excited that you are reading our letter! Both of our families have already been blessed by adoption. Maureen's sister, brother and three nieces and nephews, as well as several of Dean's cousins, are adopted, so we have seen first-hand how adoption can create wonderful caring families. We admire your courage and your loving decision to choose open adoption. We realize that you want to find the best family possible for your baby. It is our hope that we will be that family! We can't wait to welcome you and your baby into our lives and want to have a relationship with one another that feels right for all of us.

We have been inseparable since meeting on a "blind date" three years ago and now have been married for two years.

We both really love children and spend as much time as possible with our nieces, nephews and our friends' children. Mike, Dean's 17-year-old son from his previous marriage, lives with us. Dean raised him on his own as a single dad since Mike was 4 years old. We have both truly enjoyed the joys and challenges of watching him grow to adulthood and this experience has strengthened our desire to have another special child of our own. With your help, our dream can now come true!

Maureen is a registered nurse and has worked in the Intensive Care Nursery at a large San Francisco hospital for the past 13 years. She loves her work caring for sick children and helping them get well again, and she is glad she can also be there to provide comfort, encouragement and support to their worried parents. She is a strong, nurturing, and compassionate woman who will make a very gentle and understanding mom for our baby.

Dean has worked for a Dairy Distribution company for the past 15 years. He has worked in many capacities: in the warehouse, as a driver, and for the past 10 years as a foreman. At this family-owned company, employees are treated just like family, which makes it a truly great place to work. Dean is an outgoing, kind man with a great sense of humor whom other people find easy to talk to. He's already proven what a responsible and caring dad he is and now he's looking forward to having a new baby to play with.
