The lovely Lady. Belgian Gruenendahl Shepherd mix.
She was a frightened, skinny, year old pup dodging cars on the street in front of our house when June first saw her 11 years ago.
We already had wonderful Thor von Gruenwald, AKC, a 5 year old (at the time) German Shepherd. Didn't want another dog, but were unable to find a home for Lady. After a coouple of months a neighbor wanted her, but she tore down a sturdy wooden fence and came "home". (I think she'd fallen in love with Thor) So she remained - and we're so glad she did.

This is Lady today, 11+ years old, and a chubby 100+ lbs.
Lady was untrained when we rescued her from the street. Not planning to keep her, we did not train her at all. Yet within a remarkably short time, she began behaving according to our "house rules".
A inviolable rule is: No touching of foods not offered, no matter where or what the circumstances. All our GSDs had followed that rule perfectly, inclluding, of course, Thor.
A coouple of weeks after she joined us, I observed her standing on the dining room table, licking the remians of my lunch dishes. I was outside, looking through a window. Not expecting to keep her, I didn't bother to react at all. That was 11 years ago, and she's never - NEVER ONCE! - done that again.
We can only assume Thor taught her the rules. And did a very good job of it.
