Hello and Welcome to
the home of Sho Hotei Siamese. We are Pete and
Sue Scimeca.
We'd like to welcome you to our web page on Siamese cats.
Our cattery's name, Sho Hotei, is the Japanese word for one of their
Gods who represents contentment and happiness. "Sho" means little,
and "hotei" is the God's name. We choose this name because our cats
make us happy, and we hope that they would make others feel the same way.
Like so many other people we have always been pet owners, but one day
we found ourselves in a unique circumstance that allowed us to get a good
start in the Cat Fancy with the help of a experienced breeder who then
became our mentor, Pat Summers of Summermorn Siamese.
Pat was kind enough to take me under her "wing" and get me off with
much guidance. I couldn't have done it without her help and for this I
owe her much.
After having registered our cattery with the Cat Fanciers Association
(CFA) we actively began showing in 1991. The following year we applied
and were accepted by Lincoln State Cat Club as members. Sue was also appointed
show secretary.
Our first litter was born in 1993 our of our first queen, Summermorn's
Enchanted Evening of Sho Hotei and Susu's Brede of Summermorn....the rest
is history...the outcome of which is illrevalent to this page and so I
will not bore you with the details.
In 1995, after a round of setbacks and for personal reasons, we came
to the decision to take a sabbatical from the Cat Fancy. Now all our current
cats who were once show cats, are now spayed/neutered, much loved "pets".
It was a very hard decision to make but we did what was best for the cats.
We know it was the right one. We had made many good friends amongst those
breeders and judges in our travels and we miss their kind friendship and
company.
Even though we no longer show or breed, have no kittens to sell or
show wins to brag about, we continue to love to talk about and promote
this wonderfully incredible breed of cats and that is why this webpage
was composed.
Siamese have been a continual, loving element in our home for the last
32 years...and we hope that it will continue to be that way for many more
years to come.
We would like to share that love with others who are unfamiliar with
(and also with those who are) these incredibly warm and wonderfully alive,
furry bundles of immense joy and happiness to us.
If you love this breed like we do or have any questions in regards
to raising your
cat or kitten, or would like a breeder referal feel free to drop
us a line for a chat.We will do our best to help you.
Below you will find pictures of our family "pets", all retired show
cats. Most of them born and bred in our home. We have known these cats
from when they were no more than a "twinkle" in their parents eyes.
The four we currently have living with us are:
GRP Sho Hotei's Famous Amos (aka Amos, Mr Toes or the Clunk)
CH Sho Hotei's Anisette (aka Annie, Annie the Bannie, Ba Ba Nan)
Sho Hotei's Cinnabon (aka Cinny, Cin Cin Cheri or just plain
"trouble")
CH Roger Hts Jolypha of Sho Hotei (aka Jo, the Silver Fox, Pinky Lee
or Yo Yo Ma)
and a blk & wht DSH, LuLu (much hated by the meezers)

GRP Shotei's Famous Amos
Amos long, long body (8 months old)
Amos is our pride and joy. When actively showing he was doing very well.
In 1994's Lincoln State cat club show he took several Best Premiers and
quickly granded. We were unable to keep a whole male in our home, and so,
sadly we had him neutered. Being the only male here, he lives the life
of Riley in a house of three females.

Annie at 8 months also (she hasn't changed)
She has the deepest blue eyes
Annie, littermate sister of Amos, is the alpha female in our home. Alert
and quick, she rules the the house with a silent paw, putting other females
in their place when things get out of hand. She's highly active,
never missing a chance to play with the "mousie on a stick" toy. She has
kept her color very well over the years and her slender body hardly has
a ounce of fat on it, even though she has a very hearty appetite. She's
in purr-fect shape.
Then there are:

CH Rogers Hts Jolpha
of Sho Hotei
(Jo at four months)
In a house full of chocolate points, Jo's wonderful Lilac color stands
out. She is a extra affectionate cat who has Pete right where she wants
him..wrapped around
her little grey paw when it comes to getting a tid-bit or two
off the kitchen table at dinner time.
Hoover is her middle name and her tummy shows it. She is his favorite
(but shhhhhh...........
don't let the other cats know...)
.....And "the baby", Sho Hotei's Cinnabon.
Youngest of the cats, born in our last litter, and spoiled beyond belief
she is half sister to Amos and Annie. They share the same mother but her
sire was GRC Rogers Hts Slew. This is the trouble maker in the group, always
sticking her nose into everybody's business. Her favortie pastime is trying
to catch those large furry "mice" that hang out in the trees and are always
pests in the bird feeders. (If only the window was open.....)
At five years old she still acts the kitten and is Amos "special" pal.
You can't help but love this little trouble maker.(G)
Below is a picture of our only non-Siamese, Lulu...a 18 yr old diabetic
DSH. She was found as a 8 week old kitten in our backyard and she outlived
a sucession of other cats. Never having much tolerance for the Siamese,
she lived quite happily for many years in the Presidental suite (our bedroom)
and had free run of the house at night when the others were locked up.
Sadly, Lulu left us for the Rainbow Bridge on April 13th, 1999.
"No heaven will not ever heaven be;
Unless my cats are there to welcome me."
Sweet, Sweet, Lulu our "Orca" Cat
Spring 1981 to April 13, 1999

Siamese Reverie
Dedicated to Makimoto
Eto
1990-1993
I wonder what he is
thinking
Behind those china
blue eyes.
Is he contemplating
life?
Is that why he looks
so wise?
Does he think about
tomorrow?
Does he think about
what's been?
Does he wonder at
the habits
of prosaic mice and
men?
What secrets has he
hidden
within those china
blue eyes?
There must be quiate
a number
Safely stored in orbs
that size!
Does he reflect on
high ideals?
Does he ponder deeper
thoughts?
Does he solve complex
mysteries
that have puzzled
human sleuths?
I wonder what he's
thinking:
How much does he realize?
Does he know that
I love him?
Him and those china
blue eyes.
