Queens Lumber, 34-41 College Point Boulevard, Flushing, NY
This sign - not for Queens Lumber, but for K & S Construction Work Corp. - advertises that they do "CONCREATE WORK." I'd go so far as to call it "concreation." |

They ran out of lowercase is, so they dotted the m in such a way to deceive the non-discerning eye to see the word "ultimate." BTW: It reads the same way on the reverse of this sign. And I just noticed another thing: Those are exorbitant prices for their silver and ultimate gasolines. I'll stick with the regular, thank you. |

JV Discount & Grocery Store, 41-21 162nd Street, Flushing, NY
A common mistake: There are two ss - actually three of them, two in succession - in "accessories." I see this one, like "stationary" for "stationery," so frequently that I will not display another example of it unless it appears with a different spelling error. |

I have an unwritten rule to not criticize spelling errors of foreign terms, but I'll make an exception here. Like Spanglish, a mixture of Spanish and English, I guess there's also Frenglish. The correct French term is not "object d'art," but "objet d'art." And to agree with the plurals "ANTIQUES," "FINE FURNITURE," and "ORIENTAL RUGS," it should actually read "OBJETS D'ART." Totally unrelated to that: Looking carefully at the "ANTIQUES" sign above the awning, I see that it used to read "INCOME TAX." How many gallons of Wite-Out® were used - not successfully - to cover up the old sign? |

To the brethren, it should read "Northern," not "Northren." |

The frist, er, first thing that pops into my head when I hear (or read) "frist" is Bill Frist, the Republican senator from Tennessee and Senate Majority Leader. |

Sunnyside Health & Beauty, 40-02 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY
Look, Quicksdraw! They have phones cards. (That was supposed to be Baba Looey.) O.K., so that isn't so much a spelling error as a grammatical one. But don't fret, because I see that this place also carries gretting cards. |

If you don't have the space for a dinning room, the next best thing is a dinnett. |

Hmmm. Will build to suite. That suites me just fine. |

Z & B Auto Repair, 255 Nassau Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
"REPAIRING ON EUROPEN CARS": Do they mean "REPAIRING ON EUROPEAN CARS" or "REPAIRING ON YOUR OPEN CARS"? Either way, it's wrong. And the grammar's a bit off, too. |
