Misspelled Signs - Page 6

Nadine's New Style Unisex Hair Cutters, 270 Nassau Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

A combination hair salon/limousine service? What's the occassion?

300 Nassau Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

Apar' from the fact that they omitted a t from "apartments," the signmaker did a decent spelling job.

Stone Depot, 728 Meeker Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

I'll admit that the English language is confusing. Although "importer" ends with er, "distributor" ends with or. Go figure. On the positive side, "Renaissance" is spelled correctly. One more thing: I've never known a building to have an alias or a pseudonym. What's with this "728 MEEKER AVE AKA: 15 ANTHONY ST."?

Follow-up: Revisiting this location, I saw that there are several more signs for this business around the block. On some of them "distributors" is spelled correctly, and on at least one of them it is again misspelled as "distributers." What's more, on two of their signs, the word "balustrades" appears, and it is spelled right. Bravo!

Shun Fong Semi-Precious Scrap Metal, southeast corner of Vandervoort Avenue and Division Place, Brooklyn, NY

Hey, they can't all be gems. So they omitted the silent e from the word "bronze." They got "aluminum" right, though.

Natural Stone Industries, Inc., 343 Stagg Street, Brooklyn, NY

Is "expence" the British way of spelling "expense" - like "licence" rather than "license"? But besides that faux pas, they left out the apostrophe from "owner's."

Express Food Deli & Grocery, 380 Manhattan Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

I hate Manhatan Avenue, but I take my hat off to Manhattan Avenue.

Vicky's Beauty Shop, 39-36 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY

Have you heard about Vicky? She's still a hairstilist.

San Miguel Grocery, 147 Thames Street, Brooklyn, NY

There's no fee for coffee at this place, because they serve coffe instead.

Best Service Auto Body & Towing, 261 Moore Street, Brooklyn, NY

I'm just surprised that it's taken me so long to find a misspelling of "foreign." Here it's "foreing." (Isn't that what a golfer does before he hits the ball?)

Angelo's Auto Repair Shop, 11-02 Borden Avenue, Long Island City, NY

Here's another place which carries altenators. So Tony's Hardware in Brooklyn has some competition.
