Misspelled Signs - Page 7

Huntington Dental Service, 23-01 Borden Avenue, Long Island City, NY

You know what they say: A good dentist should be equipt with lots of dental equiptment.

Vasesource, 25-25 Borden Avenue, Long Island City, NY

Another example of "expense" with a c instead of an s - and "owner's" lacking an apostrophe. Correcting all those signs will be "expencive."

Pequena Coqueta, 39-34 Queens Boulevard, Sunnyside, NY

Technically, it's another foreign word, but "lingerie" is spelled "lingeri."

Clean Care, 37-35 Hunters Point Avenue, Queens, NY

What day of the week do I do laundry? Why, on Launday, of course!

Brooklyn Truck Wash & Lube Center, 184 Maspeth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

Interestingly, "bronze" has a silent e, but "Simoniz" is pronounced as if it should be spelled "Simonize."

Alhudis Deli Grocery & Tobacco, 810 Grand Street, Brooklyn, NY

This place doesn't carry the New York Times. On the other hand, they have reams of ink-jet paper coming in every day. (BTW: There's one of those signs with the redundant "ATM Machine" at the lower left. Don't forget your PIN number.)

Vinny's Cafe & Pizza, 55 McGuinness Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY

What first caught my eye on this awning was the misspelling of "omelettes" as "omeletes." But I prefer the corruption of "parmigiana" into "parmersan."

MHC Discount Inc., 66-26A Grand Avenue, Maspeth, NY

Just the singular this time (Are cigarettes so expensive now that they sell them in this place one-by-one, rather than by the pack?) - and this time it lacks the terminal te. Some other things on this awning caught my eye. For one, I wonder what was obliterated just to the left of "cigaret." "Cigar," perhaps? The other thing: It appears that most of the lettering on the sign has grayed due to the ravages of time. However, the "& UP" looks spanking clean, as if it had been added only recently. ("Everything in this store costs just 99¢ ... except for the stuff which is priced above 99¢.") Possibly someone alerted them that their cigarettes - the individual ones, no less - were pricier than 99¢.

Future Capital Co., 46-12 Queens Boulevard, Queens, NY

Interestingly, their neighbor in Suite 206, Sunnyside Agency Inc., got the spelling of "residential" correct in their portion of this shared sign.

Everything For Your Party, 70-09 45th Avenue, Woodside, NY

This is the second place that I've found that sells "ballons." (See here) It's nice to know that if I ever need some I can shop for the better price between the two competitors. And could they get any more enthusiastic about helium tank rentals? Three exclamation points?!!!
