Misspelled Signs - Page 17

P.C. Richard Appliances, 113-14 Queens Boulevard, Forest Hills, NY

First of all, I have never shoped at P.C. Richard, nor do I intend to shope there. Secondly, I'm guessing that whoever was responsible for this sign - maybe a sales counselor (see fine print at bottom of sign) - botched up "while you are" and "while you're" into "while yor are." Yor are doing a bang-up job.

Silvertower Deli & Grocery, 125-10 Queens Boulevard, Kew Gardens, NY

Is the rule i before u except after r? I keep forgetting it. Nevertheless, it should read "fruits." And somewhere along the line the e of "magazines" was omitted. "Milk" is spelled right, though.

Tower Cleaners, 138-27 Queens Boulevard, Briarwood, NY

What a royal mess this sign is! Besides the spelling errors - which I'll get to momentarily - the width of the lettering varies crazily. And what's the deal with those ws? They look like vs which have swallowed as. Plus, there's the "CHANGE BATTERY" notice at the bottom of this sign which appears to have been handwritten in as an afterthought. (Mercifully, it appears to be fading with age.) After all that, the spelling mistakes seem rather anticlimactic: "Zipper" came out as "ziper," and "sharpen" wound up as "shrpen." Nice little graphics, though.

Old Country Deli & Restaurant, 52-05 Metropolitan Avenue, Maspeth, NY

I'd like to know from where exactly their coffee originates. Columbia, South Carolina? The District of Columbia? Columbia University? Because the country in South America which is famous for its coffee is spelled "Colombia," hence the word "Colombian," not "Columbian." Close, but no Kuban cigar.

Graham Avenue Meats & Deli, 445 Graham Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

If Mosey brand pastrami is famous for being "delicous" I'll pass. I'd rather have delicious pastrami.

On a garage near 37-13 Greenpoint Avenue, Sunnyside, NY

"Actived" - is that the past tense of "active?"

50-02 48th Street, Woodside, NY

Generally, I trust my home repairs to a general contractor. So since you're a "genral" contractor I'll have to pass.

Valentino Food Market, 66-64 Fresh Pond Road, Ridgewood, NY

I prefer to peedle my own carrots, thank you.

Tire & Wheel World, ??-?? Metropolitan Avenue, Queens, NY

Crome plating: Is that a cheaper version of chrome plating?

Metro-Forest Gold and Silver Exchange, 65-50 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, NY

I guess platium must come from the same place as alumium.
