Misspelled Signs - Page 23

New Hope (?) Medical, P.C., 815 Onderdonk Avenue, Ridgewood, NY

This place appears to be out of business, possibly because it provided refferals to specialists, not referrals. At least it didn't provide them to speciailists.

Six Brothers Auto Repair Inc., 656 Onderdonk Avenue, Ridgewood, NY

Too many cooks, or in this case brothers, spoil the broth. One of them should have noticed the misspellings of "transmission" and "exhaustion systems." And it's probably more accurate to refer to it as an exhaust system.

Carla's Grocery & Deli, 550 Onderdonk Avenue, Ridgewood, NY

Not only is "cigarettes" misspelled, but the lack of proper punctuation might lead one - or at least me - to believe that they carry soda cigarettes and beer cigarettes, whatever they might be. ("Do you have menthol cigarettes?" "No, but we have cola ones.")

Jasienowski Studio, Inc., 660 Seneca Avenue, Ridgewood, NY

First of all, a minor one: "License" is spelled the British way, "licence." We've seen this twice with the word "expense" spelled "expence" - here and here. More incorrect, I see that this photography studio does family portrats, not portraits.

Aybar Deli Grocery, 17-11 Harman Street, Ridgewood, NY

In column three of this sign are brand names of various detergents and bleaches, including Wizk. Is that a knock-off of Wisk? And right above that is something called "Gan." Could that be a misspelling of "Gain?"

Food Dimensions Supermarket, Gates Avenue, between St. Nicholas Avenue & Wyckoff Avenue, Ridgewood, NY

As it reads on the pictured ice cream tubs, the brand is spelled "Haδgen-Dazs," not "Haggen Dazs." (Forget about the umlaut and the hyphen.)

Nevien's 99’ Emporium, Fresh Pond Road @ 69th Avenue, Ridgewood, NY

Yay! They spelled "cigarettes" right, but they left off the p from "phone." Not only do they sell phone cards at 20% off, but they take 20% off the word "phone."

Mini Mart, 66-99 Fresh Pond Road, Ridgewood, NY

This place got the "Haagen" right, but it botched the "Dazs."

Price Choice Foodmarkets, 64-01 Fresh Pond Road, Ridgewood, NY

Not the first time for "mozzarella." Probably won't be the last time, either.

Sunnyside Real Estate, 47-61 41st Street, Sunnyside, NY

It's getting late, I'm tired, and I've run out of clever things to say. "SHOPING CENTERS" should be "SHOPPING CENTERS," and "CONDOMIOMS" should be "CONDOMIUMS." That's all.
