Misspelled Signs - Page 28

Citywide Furniture, 86-03 Queens Boulevard, Elmhurst, NY

I can't think of anything clever to say for this one, just to point out that "occationals" should be "occasionals." Possibly, the signmaker was thinking of the word "vocational."

Mary's Esthetics & Cosmetology Corp., 107-50 Queens Boulevard, Forest Hills, NY

Similar to the immediately previous one, "microdermabration" should be "microdermabrasion."

Johnny & Valerie Co. Shoe Repair, 140-52 Queens Boulevard, Queens, NY

Maybe whoever is responsible for this creating this awning partook in a little Johnnie Walker scotch before or during the effort. If so, I wonder if that person read the label as "Jhonnie Walker."

Happy Supermarket, 44-06 48th Avenue, Queens, NY

We've seen one of these - "sandwhich" - before, albeit pluralized as "sandwhiches." But there's a new one, "sousage" instead of "sausage."

47-12 48th Avenue, Woodside, NY

This one got me to thinking: Did Martha Stewart pay "imcome" tax on the sale of her ImClone stock?

Hector Electronic, 95 Wilson Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

When forming an adjective from the word "guarantee," it should be "guaranteed," not "guarantied." However, I'm not sure about "pocker." Is that Spanish for "poker?" (I assume maquina de pocker is supposed to be a video poker machine.)

DeKalb Buy & Sell, 1280 Myrtle Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

Admittedly, "Myrtle" sounds like it should be "Mirtle," but it's spelled with a y, not an i.

Diony's Auto Sound & Security, 207 Starr Street, Brooklyn, NY

I'm no automotive whiz, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost certain that it should be "struts," not "structs."

Eddie's Plumbing Supplies, 249 Nassau Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

First one: "Toillets" should be "toilets."

Second picture: "Flu" is missing an e - twice. There is, of course, a word "flu," but it's short for "influenza" - certainly not what was intended, "flue." Granted, it's possible that an e might have been obliterated from the window - notice the a missing from "faucets" in the top shot - but to have it happen two times is too coincidental for me to believe it's not a mistake.

Keyspan Meter Operations Facility, 370 Vandervoort Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

I knew that it was only a matter of time before I would find "trespassing" misspelled as "tresspassing." Here it is.
