"Seinfeld" brought about its own vocabulary. For the uninitiated - and the seasoned veteran, too - here is a list of terms and phrases used in the show.


AMCA Abbreviation for the fictitious organization, Able Mentally-Challenged Adults ("The Jimmy")
Anti-dentite One who discriminates against dentists ("The Yada Yada")
Astronaut pen Special hi-tech writing device which has the ability to work even upside-down ("The Pen")
BBO Abbreviation for "Beyond BO" ("The Smelly Car")
Bizarro From the DC Comics character Bizarro Superman, an adjective describing the completely opposite of something, particularly in an unusual way ("The Bizarro Jerry")
BL George's abbreviation for "Beautiful Lineswoman" ("The Lip Reader")
Bro, the Kramer's term for the male upper-body support undergarment which he and Frank Costanza tried to market ("The Doorman") (See "Manssiere, the")
Festivus The alternative end-of-year holiday which Frank Costanza invented ("The Strike")
Frolf Frisbee golf, i.e. golf with a frisbee ("The Summer of George")
Hand Short for "the upper hand" ("The Pez Dispenser")
Hipster doofus Elaine's description of Kramer in "The Glasses"; he was also described in this way by his wheelchair-bound girlfriend in "The Handicap Spot"
IPMPCW Abbreviation for the fictitious organization, the Institute for the Preservation of Motion Picture Costumes and Wardrobe ("The Gum")
Kavorka Supposedly, a Latvian word which means "the lure of the animal," referring to the ability of a man to cause women to be drawn to him, that they would give anything to be possessed by him ("The Conversion")
Manssiere, the Frank Costanza's term for the male upper-body support undergarment which he and Kramer tried to market ("The Doorman") (See "Bro, the")
Master of one's domain Title conferred upon an individual to indicate that he (or she) has the self-control to abstain from sexual activity, particularly the auto-erotic kind ("The Contest"); other terms for this are "king of the county," "lord of the manor," and "queen of the castle"
Michigan bottle-deposit scam A scheme in which canned and bottled beverages are purchased in a state in which the deposit is only 5¢, and the empties are redeemed in a state - such as Michigan - in which the deposit is 10¢, deriving a (theoretically clear) profit of 5¢ per item ("The Bottle Deposit")
Mimbo A contraction of male bimbo ("The Stall")
Pop-in From the verb "to pop in," an unscheduled, unexpected visit to one's residence by an individual ("The Apartment" "The Letter" "The Opera" "The Shower Head" "The Little Jerry")
Pouch envy The mental condition that a male kangaroo supposedly has because only female kangaroos have pouches ("The Pez Dispenser")
Regifter One who takes a gift which he (or she) has received, and presents it as a gift to another person ("The Label Maker")
Serenity now A supposedly relaxation-inducing phrase from a tape which was given to Frank Costanza by his doctor ("The Serenity Now")
Shrinkage The condition that a man's genitals suffer after he has been in water ("The Hamptons")
Sponge-worthy An adjective indicating that a person merits the use of a precious - and possibly scarce - birth-control device, such as the no-longer-available Today Sponge ("The Sponge")
Svenjolly Elaine's mispronunciation of "Svengali" in the description of her beau, psychiatrist Dr. Reston ("The Wallet")
Vault The "place" where one keeps all information which was revealed to him (or her) in confidence
Water-cooler show A TV show which on the next day in the offices people gather around the water coolers to talk about ("The Finale"); some might think that people would talk about such a show at the coffee machines, but it's probably easier to say "water-cooler show" than "coffee-machine show"
Yada yada A phrase which is used to gloss over (possibly pertinent) details in a conversation ("The Yada Yada")
