Plumeria Flowers
As most flights arrive from the US mainland in the afternoon, the first thing you need to do after picking up your luggage is to head to the car rental offices. These are located outside on the far end of the airport in small open air stands. Most car rental companies have shuttles that take you across the street to the car pick-up areas. Kahului Airport is basically open, except where you get off and on the planes.
Don't forget to pickup a bunch of brochures and tourist guides such as "Today Magazine" and "This Week Maui" that are located on display stands at several places throughout the airport. They can really save you money on area attractions and restaurants. To really get you in the Maui mood, you should buy a Plumeria flower lei from one of the vendors. They smell wonderful and will be pretty for two or three days if you put them in a refrigerator the first night.
