The first Pointie Dog Press edition, co-published with Jungle
Press Editions, is the publication of two new
five-color lithographs by Jane Fine, Orange Flip and Hoop-la.
In her first editioned prints, Fine has developed a means of composing
an image through the lithographic
process that continues the exploratory nature of her paintings, which
combine spontaneous pours of pure
color with elegant, looping geometry.
The beauty and invention lie in the relationship between these two very
different languages of drawing. In
these prints, Fine is able to present the joyous tension between spontaneity
and control.
Jane Fine has exhibited widely in the past twelve years, including solo
exhibitions at Casey Kaplan and
Pierogi
2000. She attended Harvard University, the School of the Museum of
Fine Arts in Boston, and the
Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. She has received numerous
awards including the Cité
Internationale des Artes Residency in Paris, France; several Yaddo residencies;
and fellowships from the
National Endowment for the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts.
