DR. SAMUEL T. BLEDSOE, Pvt. Co I, 18th Texas Cavalry, Darnell's Regt. Texas Volunteers. Born 21 Feb 1813 Kentucky, died 29 March 1879 Lancaster, TX. A Peters colonist emigrating to Lancaster, TX from Illinois prior to 1848 and was Lancaster's first physician. Appointed Postmaster 19 April 1860. Enlisted 01 March 1862, Dallas county. CHARLES HOMER CRUM, Pvt. Co F, 6th Texas Cavalry, Ross' Brigade. Born 22 Feb 1842 Jerseyville, Illinois died 28 Dec 1917 Lancaster, TX. Father was Harmon Peter Crum, Sr., Mother was Henryetta Matilda Lavender of Lowndes Co., Alabama. Came to Texas with his paretns from IL circa 1846-49, settling in Lancaster area. Enlisted 09 Sep 1861 in Dallas county, TX; served furing entire war, returned home March 1865. He had at least three brothers who served with him. Married on 21 Dec 1866 in Dallas county to Mary Ann Miller born 13 March 1845 died 05 July 1912. Double family marker with wife on grave.

Wounded in leg at Chustenahlah, I.T. 26 Dec 1861. Wounded in shoulder at Corinth, MS 3 Oct 1862. POW May 1865 Citronelle, AL*. CSA pension application #45460. NICHOLAS K. "NICK" GROVE, 2nd Lt., Co F, 6th Texas Cavalry, Ross' Brigade. Born 11 April 1822, died 31 Jan 1894 Lancaster, TX. Came to Texas in 1852. Was a merchant and a teacher, also the 1st Mayor of Lancaster in 1873 when town was incorporated. Wife was Elizabeth N. Baskin, born 11 March 1812 died 23 Sep 1883. Enlisted 09 Sep 1861 in Dallas county, TX. elected 2nd Lt. at enlistment, resigned office on 15 April 1862 upon being discharged on disability. Double family marker with wife on grave.

Farmer, teacher and lawyer, State Senator 1876-1880. Married, probably in Missouri, to Emily Green born 07 Feb 1825 died 10 Aug 1917. Enlisted 09 Sep 1861 in Dallas County, TX. Elected Capt. upon enlistment. Resigned May 1862 and discharged due to conscript law. Single famiy marker on grave.

WILLIAM WORTH GUY, Pvt. Co F, 6th Texas Cavalry, Ross' Brigade. Born 08 Oct 1847 in Missouri died 14 Dec 1861 Camp Washington, AR. Father was Robert Smith Guy, mother was Emily Green. Came to Texas with his parents in 1852, settling in the Lancaster area. Enlisted 09 Sep 1861 Dallas County, TX. Quote from History of Lancaster, Texas "Private William Worth Guy, the son of Captain Guy, died in his tent in Arkansas of what was described as apoplexy. The first death of a Lancaster soldier in the war, it was especially saddening that young Guy, regularly enlisted, was barely thirteen years old." Single marker on grave which reads "Died in the Confederate Army."

JOSEPH PAUL HENRY The Confederacy called J.P. Henry's services as an engraver into use, assigning him to the Lancaster Pistol Factory. The factory contracted 11 April 1862 with the Confederacy to furnish the "Colt" Dragoon pistols. Mr. Henry was conscripted to work. Born 14 April 1818 in France, died 18 Dec 1890 Lancaster, TX. Came to Texas about 1856 as a La Reunion colonist. He was a teacher, engraver, and lithographer of ivory and metal. Married Florence Adelaide Dehoque in France (not buried at Edgewood). Single family marker on grave.

Came to Texas with his parents in 1846 settling in the Lancaster area. Enlisted Sep 1861 Dallas county, TX, one of six brothers of whom all fought for the Confederacy. Married in Madison county, MS on 18 May 1865 to (widow) Martha Ann Virginia Tucker Kirk born 30 August 1840 died 11 Feb 1933 Dallas, TX, buried Oak Cliff Cemetery. Charles buried in unmarked grave on his father's lot in the Pioneer Section of Edgewood.

Buffington. Came to Texas with his parents in 1846 settling in the Lancaster area. Farmer and a merchant. Married in Dallas county, TX Dec 1859 to first wife, Lillis Elender Douglass born 09 Nov 1844, Sangamon county, IL died 12 March 1867. She is buried in Archibald McCravy Lavender's family plot at Edgewood. Four children. Enlisted October 1862 in Holly Springs, MS; having gone there to carry horses. Served until the close of the war. One of six brothers, all of whom fought for the Confederacy. Married in Dallas county, TX 14 June 1870 to second wife, (widow) Lucy Ann Rawlins Brotherton born 1845 died 1932. CSA widow pension, application #46799. Eight children. Family marker plus a Confederate marker on grave.

MIDDLETON LEE "MID" PERRY, First Captain, Co I, 18th Texas Cavalry, Darnell's Regt. Born 15 Dec 1814 IL, died 02 Feb 1892 Lancaster, TX. Father was Benjamin Franklin Perry, mother was Rebecca Harbeston/Harbinson. Originally came to Texas as early as 1837, returning to IL with a report on the moderate climated, fertile soil, and available land which appealed to his younger brother, Alexander Wilson Perry. Both brothers returned to the Peters Colony in 1844. Married in Green county, IL to Ellen Malinda Ellis, born 29 Sep 1824, died 30 Dec 1891. Enlisted 13 Aug 1862 at Rockwall, TX; wounded at Battle of Thompson's Station, TN 05 Mar 1863. POW, surrendered at Citronelle, AL*. CSA pension application #17535. Married in Dallas county 18 Jan 1866 to Martha "Mattie" Cole Peacock, born 18 Jan 1847, died 28 Dec 1888. Was a farmer, later served as a deputy in the sherfiff's and tax collector's offices of the county. Was mayor of Lancaster for several terms. and also a judge in the city courts. In 1895 was married for second time to Mrs. Susan McComb Webb. Single family marker on grave. Survived by two sons and three daughters.

RODERICK ALEXANDER RAWLINS, 2nd Captain Co F, 6th Texas Cavalry, Ross' Brigade. Born 20 Jan 1833 Greene county, IL, died 28 May 1910 at his home south of Lanaster, TX. Father was Roderick Rawlins, mother was Mildred Parks. Came to Texas with his parents in 1844 settling in the Lancaster area. Married in Dallas county, TX 30 Sep 1852 to Virginia E. Bledsoe, born 01 Aug 1827, died 10 Feb 1890. Elected 1st Sgt. 09 Sep 1861 when enlisted at Camp Bartow in Dallas, TX; elected 3rd Lt. 15 Apr 1862; elected Capt. May 1862 at Corinth, MS. Wounded at Thompson's Station, TN 05 Mar 1863. He was president of the Dallas County Pioneer Association for 20 years. Single family marker on grave. Survived by one son and two daughters.

Father was John Marshall Sears, mother was Frances Hammett. Came to Texas in 1851 with his parents, who settled 3 miles east of the village of Dallas. Married in Dallas county 12 Apr 1860 to Irene Elizabeth Mosier, born 23 Sep 1833, died 20 Mar 1908. Enlisted 14 May 1862 at Dallas, TX. Single family marker on grave. Nine children.
