It is unknown whether Dr. DuBois was related to Louis DuBois whose succession record is in DeSoto Parish Book D (1843-1851).  All that can be said with certainty is that the latter was definitely not one of his brothers. (See the children of John & Louisa [Williams] DuBois.)

Nor is there any known relationship to Lucille (Douglas) DuBois (1889-1933) and son Douglas DuBois (bd.11 Nov 1911) who are buried at Grand Cane.   The cemetery register in Slawson's DeSoto Parish history notes that she was the wife of D.E. DuBois.

No relationship of this/these Joseph(s) DuBois is known, but Dr. S.P. DuBois of Mansfield, LA did have a brother Joseph Cornelius DuBois,  born 1833, a dentist, about whom little is known.  The photograph, front & back views below,  was among those which belonged to Dr. DuBois' daughter Jennie DuBois Prather (1866-1959).  The handwritten notation "Dr. J. C. DuBois'" appears to be the handwriting of Mrs. Prather.  The word "wife" below it, in obviously more recent and in a different ink, may be in the handwriting of one of her daughters. (The printed text says "C. Barnes  No. 27 Dauphin St., Opposite the public square, Mobile, Ala. Negatives preserved for Duplication"). The photograph appears to have been taken sometime between 1875-1900, judging from the paper, backing, and state of preservation.  The photographer is not listed in the Mobile City Directories of the early 1890's, however.
