In The Dawn Of The Next Millennium

Will it come down to a global meltdown from a few or even one
malfunctioning reactor or will global warming take care of everything
or will global consciousness force us to make a quantum leap
for change as we turn the wheel the other direction or will
the prophecies of flood and famine earth cataclysms and droughts
and icebergs melting- the oceans rising and more hurricanes
change our course of actions

and what percentage of the human race is ready to listen and
who really has the right answers anyway- only what works
for them so is there really any hope for real change as we move
into the next millennium?

Can we turn back the clock of progress when progress means
more growth and more commerce and industries of death
and more babies born each minute and every hour and second
around the world and more poverty and more wars and more greed
and inventions of doom and despair where we take and take
but never give back to the earth or show that we care

when we have depleted our life sustainable support systems
with no more clean air to breathe, no more clean water to drink
no more real food to eat- no more sacred places left to go
and contemplate- no rivers flowing to sit by and dream- no more
mountains to climb no more forests to get lost in or deserts
to wander across or lakes to swim in- no more oceans to separate us
from the madness to drown our sorrows and pains in- no more
sealife breathing- no more birds in the sky and no more wildlife-
no more sunsets and no more sunrises and no more full moons
and new moons and no more ancient cultures pointing to
a better way and no more high masters on the earth plane
to teach us the wisdom?

Is humanity really doomed and is that our purpose for being here
to become extinct like many of the species already gone
shadow of danger lurking at the front door and a ray of light shining in
when we open it-shadow of darkness and shadow of light-
breathing in and breathing out- light and darkness- duality of existence
yin yang- polar opposites-male and female- twin gods at
the opposite poles of the universe- the tree of knowledge and
forbidden fruit-Adam and Eve and the fall of man- the decline of
civilization-maybe a few survivors left but who wants to survive?

Or maybe we go back to the seed state and start all over again or
become ethers burning in the hot white sky or a ten million stars
shimmering out there in the darkness or maybe we become ashes
in the fires down below that burn the last traces of ruins and wastelands
of poisons and toxic dumps and records of centuries of research
and information, the brilliant minds with visions, the great painters, the poets,
the philosophers, the musicians and the great composers of orchestral sweets
and symphonies, the ages of jazz and rock, the rock of ages, the history of
mineral deposits- layers of limestone sandstone- volcanic eruptions- glacial drifts
and granite n gravel wash n talus. No more beeps and bonks of cities and wails and screams in the night
and five billion beaming lights and lit up blinking signs telling you
how you can change your life if you buy this or that and you’ll feel better
no more movies on the screen of blood and violence and no more
drugs on the streets and racist killings and no more school shootings
and no more wars-no more arguments and family feuds
and no more world of sex and porn and no more no more no more
of more of everything causing us to live our lives in a confused state
not being able to make the right choice because there are so many choices
and in other places no choices at all.

Has doomsday arrived or has a new vision arisen from out of the dark
bringing us closer to a clearer understanding as we approach the end
and is there any hope for humanity or will the earth do better without us
feeding upon it like a cancerous growth out of control even though
we go on living with the blind assumption that we will find a cure
or we wait for the apocalypse or the second coming of Christ
and can our slick technologies save us from the destruction that is
already at hand as the machines of corporations eat away the land
for more institutions and prisons and playgrounds for the multibillionaires
while they build their empires of domination and exploitation?

Looking down from an aireal view seeing how small the world is down there-
it appears like miniature rector sets or checkerboard squares or a game of monopoly
where life is a gamble as you throw the dice and it says -do not pass go
or collect ten thousand dollars-or make the next move at your own risk

the end of a century and the beginning of another one
with histories of facts and lies in the age of reason- the age of the romantics
the age of the industrial revolution and the age of the industrial giants
the space age and the information age-and the age of the religious fanatics
and politicians of babble and deception
that send us into a tail spin with no recourse-or
do we find the true direction to guide us home
with a safe landing saying- yes we made it by god!
