- Fill out the on-line Order Form as completely as possible. Just Paws does not accept credit cards so you will have to send your payment separately. Your on-line order will only be valid when the deposit is received.
- Along with the deposit, send at least 3 photographs of you pet or pets. These photographs should include your favorite pose and good examples of their eye and coat color. Please indicate this information on the back of each photo. All photographs will be returned with the completed portrait.
- Any additional photographs would be helpful but not required. For example: If you know where you are going to hang the portrait you could send photographs of the room.
- Background Colors: You do not have to specify background colors. The artist can simply choose what best compliments your pet. If you know what background colors you want please state this on the order form. Be as descriptive as possible. For example, instead of indicating green or red say lime green or maroon or give an overall background description such as, "use natural earthy tones". You could also describe your furniture, wall and rug colors and let the artist make the decision. If there is a certain background style or color that you like of the paintings on this web site, please include the title of the work so it can be referenced in the background of your painting.
- Portrait Size: There are several ways to decide what size of a portrait to order. If it is for a gift you may want to decide the size strictly by the price (see price list). Another way to determine the portrait dimensions is by the size and/or number of animals on each painting. For example a medium to large sized dog tends to look great on a larger canvas.(see Quincy) Usually the 20 x 30 inch size on up. Also if you want several pets in one painting (see Micky and Daisy) or want to do a full body rather then just a head shot (see Madison) you may want to go for a larger size. One final idea, decide where you want the portrait to hang and then tape out (with masking tape) several different sizes to see what works best in the space.
- Mulitiple Pets: One painting can be created from several photographs. If it is impossible to get a good shot of your pets together, just send separate photos and the artist will combine them in the painting.
- Deposit: A 50% deposit is required for all orders and should be sent with the photographs. Just Paws accepts payments by check or money order. The final 50% and any shipping and handling costs are due at the time of pick up or before shipment if you live outside of the Chicago area. A proof of the painting will be e-mailed to you for final approval before shipping.
