Charles William Lambton died on 3 May.
[He was born on 22 August 1921, son of Hon. Charles Lambton (himself the son of George Frederick D'Arcy Lambton, 2nd Earl of Durham, and of his wife, née Lady Beatrix Hamilton [daughter of the 1st Duke of Abercorn]) and of his wife, née Lavinia Marion Garforth (herself the daughter of William Henry Garforth and of his wife, née Hon. Hylda Maria Madeline Willoughby). In 1950 he married Lady Elizabeth Mary Fitzmaurice (daughter of Henry William Edmond Petty-Fitzmaurice, 6th Marquess of Lansdowne [himself the son of Henry Charles Keith Petty-Fitzmaurice, 5th Marquess of Lansdowne, and of his wife, née Lady Maud Hamilton (another daughter of the 1st Duke of Abercorn)], and of his wife, née Elizabeth Caroline Hope). Natasha Branston and her husband, Barney Branston, had their third son, Samuel Peter Barnabas, on 9 May.

James Harold Charles Hamilton, Marquess of Hamilton (son of James Hamilton, 5th Duke of Abercorn, KG, and of his wife, née Alexandra Philiips) and his wife, née Tanya Nation (eldest daughter of Douglas Percy Codrington Nation and of his wife, née Barbara "Bobbie" Brookes) had their first child, James Alfred Nicholas, Viscount Strabane, on 30 October. Sebastian Finch Morley (son of Jonathan Morley and of his former wife, née Hon. Kirsty Jane Aitken [herself the daughter of Maxwell Aitken, 2nd Lord Beaverbrook, and of his former wife, née Ursula Jane Kenyon-Slaney (herself the daughter of Robert Orlando Kenyon-Slaney and of his wife, née Lady Mary Cecilia Rhodesia Hamilton [herself the daughter of the 3rd Duke of Abercorn])]) and his wife, née Victoria Clare Helen Whitbread (herself the daughter of Samuel Charles Whitbread and of his wife, née Jane Hayter), had their second child, Myrtle Rose Beatrice, on 13 December. Yann-Loïc Herlin and his wife, née Caroline Bès de Berc (daughter of Arnault Bès de Berc [himself the son of Guy Bès de Berc and of his wife, née Marguerite Le Ray d'Abrantès (herself the daughter of Alfred Le Ray, Marquis d'Abrantès, and of his wife, née Hélène de Langsdorff, and sister of Maurice, Duc d'Abrantès)] and of his wife, née Damienne Lefébure) had their third child, Laetitia, at Stavanger, Norway, on 1 June. Cayetano Martinez de Irujo y Fitzjames-Stuart (son of Luis Martinez de Irujo y Artazcoz and of his wife, Maria de Rosario Cayetana Fitzjames-Stuart y Silva, Duquesa de Alba) married Genoveva Casanova at the Palace las Duenas at Seville on 15 October. The couple already has two children: Luis and Amina. (added 15 Aug 2005)

ALLIATA

Principe Don Paolo Alliata (son of Principe Don Fabrizio, 3rd Principe Alliata, and of his first wife, née Yana Cini) and his wife, née Ioana Mercedes Padilla (herself the daughter of Eduardo José Padilla and of Julieta Mercedes de Oliviera Cézar) had their fourth child, Donna Isabella Alliata di Montereale e Padilla, at Buenos Aires on 26 February. ALTIERI

Donna Flavia Francesca dei marchesi Theodoli (daughter of Don Alberto Theodoli, Marchese di Sambuci (1873-1955, himself son of Don Girolamo Theodoli dei marchesi di San Vito e Pisoniano (1846-1926) and of Donna Cristina dei principi Altieri (1852-1930)) and of Matilde Sursok (1885-1964), died in Bolgheri, Tuscany, on 6 January. She was born in 1910 and married in 1930 Count Giorgio Ugolino della  Gherardesca (1902-1947). They had no children. (added 4 Feb 2005)

Donna Vittoria dei marchesi Theodoli (daughter of Don Ugo Theodoli dei marchesi di San Vito e Pisoniano, "Balì" Grand Cross of Sovereign Military Order of Malta (1886-1974) [himself  son of Don Girolamo dei marchesi Theodoli (1846-1926) and of Donna Cristina dei principi ALTIERI (1852-1930)] and of Maria dei marchesi Siciliano di Rende (1893-1968)) died in Rome on 6 March. She was born in 1919 and married in 1940 Nobile Augusto Assettati, Ambassador of Italy (1903-.....). She was survived by two sons and one daughter. (added 23 Mar 2005)

ARGYLL

Anthony Burrell and his wife, née Lady Louise Campbell (daughter of Ian Campbell, 12th Duke of Argyll (1937-2001) and of his wife, née Iona Mary Colquhoun) had a daughter, Teale Iona, on 11 February. (added 21 Feb 2005)

ATHOLL

John Jolliffe Tufnell died on 10 March.
[He was born on 22 February 1925, son of Samuel Jolliffe Tufnell (himself the son of Edward Augustus Murray Tufnell, of Wormingford Hall [himself the son of John Jolliffe Tufnell, of Langleys, and of his second wife, née Eleanor Margaret Murray (of the Dukes of Atholl)], and of his wife, née Ethel Cicely Harriet Woodhouse) and of his wife, née Phoebe Olga Johsntone. In 1949 he married Elizabeth Armstrong Sinclair, who predeceased him. They had three children: Patricia, Ian, and Graham (who also predeceased him); and four grandchildren.] (added 20 Mar 2005)

AUDIFFRET-PASQUIER

Olivier Goirand died at Villejuif on 15 January.
[He was born at Paris on 22 July 1958, son of Gilbert-André Goirand and of his wife, née Bernadette Chatin. In 1986 he married Sybille d'Audiffret-Pasquier (daughter of Denis, Duc d'Audiffret-Pasquier, and of his wife, née Aldée de Lastic Saint-Jal). Donna Elena del Balzo dei duchi di Presenzano, nèe dei conti Federici di Abriola, died at Rome on 18 October.
[She was born at Naples on 8 November 1913, daughter of Conte Giuseppe Federici di Abriola (1883-1971) and of his wife, née Nobile Giovanna Fraggiacomo. She married in 1936 Conte Don Francesco del Balzo dei duchi di Presenzano (1903-1978). They had two daughters, Donna Giovannella and Donna Maria Immacolata del Balzo, who survive her, and a son, Don Fabrizio Del Balzo (1940- 1976).] (added 28 Oct 2005)

BARBERINI

Don Augusto Principe Barberini, 13th Principe di Palestrina and Grandee Spain 1st class, died in Rome on 21 June.
[He was born in Rome on 3 December 1923, son of Don Francesco dei principi Barberini (1898-1959) and of Donna
Ippolita Cattaneo della Volta Paleologo dei principi di San Nicandro, Principessa e Duchessa di Termoli (1897-1988).
In 1969 he married Giovanna dei marchesi della Chiesa. He is survived by her, three sons and one daughter.] (added 25 Jun 2005)

Don Antonio Barberini dei principi di Palestrina died in Osimo, near Ancona, Italy, on 29 June.
[He was born in 1928, son of Don Giulio Barberini dei Principi di Palestrina (1900-1977) and of his wife, née Nobile Costanza Briganti-Bellini (1902-.....).  He married in 1957 Fiamma Bosio (b.1931). He is survived by her, one son and three daughters.] (added 9 Jul 2005)

BATTENBERG

John Ulick Knatchbull, 7th Lord Brabourne, died at his home in Ashford, Kent, on 22 September.
[He was born at London on 9 November 1924, second son of Michael Herbert Rudolf Knatchbull-Hugessen (later, Knatchbull), 5th Lord Brabourne (himself the son of Cecil Marcus Knatchbull-Hugessen, 4th Lord Brabourne, and of his wife, née Helene Regina Frederica von Flesch Brunningen), and of his wife, née Lady Doreen Browne (herself the daughter of George Ulick Browne, 6th Marquess of Sligo, and of his wife, née Agatha Stewart Hodgson). He was a film producer, among other pursuits. He succeeded his elder borther as 7th Lord Brabourne in 1943. In 1946 he married Lady Patricia Mountbatten, elder daughter of Louis Mountbatten, Earl Mountbatten of Burma (né Prince von Battenberg) and of his wife, née Edwina Ashley. She succeeded her father as Countess Mountbatten of Burma in 1979 when the Earl was killed by terorists along with the Brabournes' son Nicholas. He is survived by her and by their remaining six children. His eldest son, Norton Louis Philip Knatchbull, will apparently continue to be known as Lord Romsey (the Countess' subsidiary title) but also succeeds as 8th Lord Brabourne.] (added 24 Sep 2005)

Timothy Knatchbull (son of John Knatchbull, Lord Brabourne, and of his wife, Patricia, Countess Mountbatten of Burma [herself the daughter of Louis, Earl Mountbatten of Burma, born Prince of Battenberg]) and his wife, née Isabella Norman, had their fourth child, Isla Selina Edwina, on 23 November. BAUFFREMONT-COURTENAY

Comte Bernard de Lambert des Granges (son of Comte Bruno de Lambert des Granges and of his wife, née Marie-France Soucanye de Landevoisin) and his wife, née Princess Anne de Bauffremont-Courtenay (daughter of Prince Charles de Bauffremont-Courtenay and of his wife, née Blanche de Chabannes) had their second child, Bruno, at Montpellier on 26 February. Augustin du Bessey de Contenson (son of Comte Michel du Bessey de Contenson and of his wife, née France Guillemin de Monplanet) and his wife, née Marie-Laurence de Pontac (daughter of Jean François, Marquis de Pontac, and of his wife, née Princess Eliane de Bauffremont-Courtenay) had their first child, Apolline, on 20 June. Sibylle, Duchesse de Bauffremont, née de Chabannes, died on 28 August.
[She was born at Paris on 26 June 1922, daughter of Gabriel de Chabannes and of his wife, née Mahaut de Béthune-Sully. In 1943 she married Jacques, Duc de Bauffremont (b.1922, son of Pierre, Duc de Bauffremont, and of his wife, née Thérèse Chevrier. He survives her, along with their four children, and umerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.] (added 31 Aug 2005)

Baron Renaud de Maistre and his wife, née Princess Agnès de Bauffremont-Courtenay (daughter of Prince Charles Emmanuel de Bauffremont-Courtenay [himself the son of Jacques, Prince-Duc de Bauffremont-Courtenay] and of his wife, née Blanche de Chabannes) had their second child, Amaury, on 14 September. Comte Emmanuel de Pontac (son of Jean-François, Marquis de Pontac, and of his wife, Princess Eliane de Bauffremont-Courtenay) and his wife, née Alix Mirieu de Labarre, had their sixth child, Sixtine, on 18 October. (added 6 Dec 2005)

BEAUFORT

Sir Simon Francis Bethell Codrington, of Dodington Park, 3d Bt., died at Frenchay Hospital on 17 August.
[He was born on 14 August 1923, son of Sir Christopher Codrington, 2d Bt. (himself the son of Sir Gerald Codrington, Bt., [himself the son of Christopher William Codrington and of his wife, née Lady Georgiana Somerset (of the Dukes of Beaufort)]and of his wife, née Lady Edith Denison [herself the daughter of William Denison, Earl of Londesborough, and of his wife, née Lady Edith Somerset (of the Dukes of Beaufort)]), and of his first wife, née Joan Hague-Cook. He married firstly, in 1947, Joanne Molineaux (divorced 1959), widow of William Humphrey Austin Thompson; married 2ndly, 1959, Pamela Joy Halliday Wise (divorced 1979);  married 3rdly, 1980 (divorced 3 Aug 1987) to Mrs Sarah Gwynne Gaze (née Pennell); married 4thly, in 1989, Shirley Ann Davis. David Alwyne Carne Rasch died on 27 November.
[He was born on 16 September 1922, son of Guy Elland Carne Rasch (himself the son of Sir Frederick Carne Rasch, Bt., and of his wife, née Katherine Anne Griffinhoofe) and of his wife, née Phyllis Dorothy Lindsay Greville (herself the daughter of Hon. Alwyne Henry Fulke Greville [himself the son of George Guy Greville, 4th Earl of Warwick and Brooke, and of his wife, née Lady Anne Charteris] and of his wife, née Mabel Elizabeth Georgina Smith). In 1953 he married Anne Elizabeth Somerset (daughter of Henry Robert Somers Fitzroy de Vere Somerset and of his wife, née Bettine Violet Malcolm, and sister of David Robert Somerset, 11th Duke of Beaufort). Lord Hugh Hastings Russell died on 6 January.

Rupert Edward Nutting (son of Peter Robert Nutting and of his wife, née Cecilia Hester Marie-Louise Constance Russell [herself the daughter of Cosmo Rex Ivor Russell, of the Dukes of Bedford]) and his wife, née Kerry Turner, had their first child, Charles Peter Jameson, at Portland Hospital, on 17 February. Hazel Incledon, née Beresford, died on 24 March.
[She was born on 11 February 1920, daughter of Hon. William Arthur de la Poer Horsley Beresford (himself the son of William Robert John Beresford, 3d Lord Decies, and of his wife, née Catherine Anne Dent) and of his second wife, née Laura Coventry (herself the daughter of St.John Halford Coventry and of his wife, née Lilian Emmeline Russell [of the family of the Dukes of Bedford]). [She was born at Creba on 25 July 1909, daughter of Herbert Ludwig Adolf Graf v.Einsiedel (himself the son of Johann-Georg Graf v.Einsiedel and of his wife, née Frieda Gräfin v.Westarp) and of his first wife, née Irene Gräfin von Bismarck-Schönhausen (herself the daughter of Wilhelm Otto Albrecht Graf v.Bismarck-Schömhausen [himself the son of Otto, Fürst v.Bismarck] and of his wife, née Sibylle v.Arnim). In 1934 she married Oswalt v.Nostitz-Wallwitz; they divorced in 1943. In 1943 she married Wolfgang Freiherr v.Richthofen (1909-2000).] (added 11 Apr 2005)

Vanessa Gräfin von Bismarck-Schönhausen (daughter of Ferdinand Fürst von Bismarck and of his wife, née Elisabeth Lippens) married Maximilian Weiner (son of Gabor and Brenda Weiner, of Rixensart, Belgium) at Aumühle in a civil ceremony on 26 May, and a religious ceremony on 28 May. BLACAS d'AULPS

The engagement was announced between François Marie des Courtils (presumably the one born at Madrid on 13 August 1980, son of Patrick des Courtils [himself the son of Vicomte Jean des Courtils and of his wife, née Françoise de Virieu (herself the daughter of Joseph, Marquis de Virieu, and of his wife, née Félicie de Blacas d'Aulps)] and of his wife, née Anne Geneviève Marie Muron) and Marie Christine Nicole Blanchon. Hélène, Duchesse de Blacas, died at Cholet on 25 April.
[She was born at Paris on 13 March 1921, daughter of Comte Louis de Blacas d'Aulps and of his wife, née Aliette de Dreux-Brézé. In 1942 she married her cousin, Pierre, Prince et Duc de Blacas (1913-1997). They had two sons: Casimir, Prince et Duc de Blacas; and Comte Alexandre de Blacas d'Aulps (d.2003).] (added 1 May 2005)

Anne, Marquise de Vibraye, née d'Ussel, died at Joncy on 17 September.
[She was born in 1914, daughter of Jean, Vicomte d'Ussel and of his wife, née Marie d'Ussel. She was married to René Hurault, Marquis de Vibraye (1906-2002), son of Comte Fernand Hurault de Vibraye (himself the son of Comte René Hurault de Vibraye and of his wife, née Louise de Blacas d'Aulps [herself the daughter of Louis de Blacas, Prince et Duc de Blacas and f his first wife, née Marie de Pérusse des Cars) and of his wife, née Anne-Marie Viellard. BONCOMPAGNI LUDOVISI

Prince Don Bante Boncompagni Ludovisi (son of Prince Don Nicolò Boncompagni Ludovisi, Principe di Piombino, etc., and of his first wife, née Donna Benedetta Barberini Colonna di Sciarra) married Delphina Lapham (daughter of Lewis Henry Lapham, editor and columnist of Harper’s Magazine) during 2005. He had formerly been married to Cristiana Crociani. (added 9 Jan 2006)

BORROMEO

Contessa Donna Isabella Borromeo dei principi di Angera (daughter of Count Don Carlo Borromeo and of  his 1st wife, Marion Sybille Zota) and her companion Ugo dei conti Brachetti-Peretti, had their first child, a daughter, named Angera, in Rome on 28 April. They were married at Isola Bella on Lake Maggiore on 24 September. (updated 22 Oct 2005)

BRANCIA

Marchese Don Costantino Brancia, 5th Principe di Apricena, died at Naples on 28 June.
[He was born in 1908, son of Don Francesco Brancia, 4th Principe di Apricena (1871-1943) and of  Donna Teresa de' Medici dei principi di Ottajano (1870-1918). He married in 1942 Anna Nobile (d?...). He is survived by three sons and one daughter. The eldest son, Don Francesco Brancia (b.1943) is the new Prince of Apricena.] (added 28 Oct 2005)

BRANCOVAN

Prince Mihai-Gheorghe-Stefan Bassaraba de Brancovan (b.Bucharest 17 Feb 1948, son of Prince Petru Constantin Dimitrie Bassaraba de Brancovan (Bucharest 8 Apr 1920-London 18 Nov 1983) and of his wife, née Princess Marina Stirbey (Vienna 19 Mar 1912-Bouloc 15 Jul 2001)) and Laetitia Le Guay had twin daughters born on 18 March: Iseult-Marie-Mathilde, and Blanche (the latter died at birth).  (added 1 May 2005)

Piero was created Duca Ferretti in 1941, and Roberto succeeded him in that title at his death in 1951 (his older brother, Gabriele, having died in 1941). Francesca was born at Filottrano on 4 October 1926, the daughter of Conte Giovanni Battista Chiassi and of his wife, née Micaela Gentiloni. Prince Alexander Galitzine (Golitzen), an Oscar-nominated art director, died at San Diego, California, on 26 July.
[He was born at Moscow on 28 February 1908, son of Prince Alexander Galitzine and of his wife, née Lubov Glebov. Since 1936 he had been married to Frances Peters (b.27 Feb 1905). They had one son, Peter, and he adopted her daughter, Cynthia, from her previous marriage. One obituary read, "Alexander Golitzen, an art director and production designer who shared     Academy Awards for his work on 1943's "Phantom of the Opera," 1960's "Spartacus" and 1962's "To Kill a Mockingbird" during a career that spanned decades, has died. He was 97. Golitzen died July 26 of congestive heart failure at a health care center in San Diego, said his daughter, Cynthia Garn. Golitzen worked on more than 300 movies. He earned more than a dozen Oscar nominations for art direction, beginning with the 1940 Alfred Hitchcock movie "Foreign Correspondent" and ending with "Earthquake" in 1974. Others included 1961's "Flower Drum Song" and 1969's "Sweet Charity." The Moscow-born Golitzen and his family fled the Russian revolution and ended up in Seattle. Golitzen attended the University of Washington, where he earned an architecture degree, and moved to Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, he became an assistant to a fellow Russian, MGM art director Alexander Toluboff. He went on to work at United Artists and later was supervising art director at Universal, where he oversaw movies for three decades. He also designed the set for the Academy Awards show several times. Her first - at St Margaret's Westminster, on her 22nd birthday - one of the society events of 1951 - was to John George Vanderbilt Henry (Sunny) Spencer-Churchill, styled Marquess of Blandford, son and heir of the 10th Duke of Marlborough.......  This marriage produced as son, John David Ivor, styled Earl of Sunderland, born 17 Nov, 1952, for whom Princess Margaret stood sponsor. The boy died in infancy; another son followed, 24 November,
1955, Charles James, styled Earl of Sunderland until his father succeeded to the dukedom in 1972, and since when has been styled Marquess of Blandford. A daughter, Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill (now Lady Henrietta Gelber), was born in 1958. The Blandfords divorced in 1960, and two years later she married, as his first wife, the landowner Alan Cyril Heber-Percy (b. 1935), of Eyford Knoll, Upper Slaughter, Gloucestershire, scion of the Dukes of Northumberland, by whom she had a daughter, Larissa Anne Heber-Percy (now Mrs Justin Hardy), born in 1968.  Her second marriage also ended
