Mme Pierre Bazin, née Christine de Vogüé, died on 10 February.

[She was born at Paris on 24 April 1942, daughter of Comte Bertrand de Vogüé (himself the son of Comte Louis de Vogüé [himself the son of Comte Melchior de Vogüé and of his wife, née Claire des Monstiers-Mérinville] and of his wife, née Princess and Duchess Louise d’Arenberg [herself the daughter of Auguste, Duc d’Arenberg, and of his wife, née Jeanne Greffulhe]) and of his wife, née Simone de Mun (herself the daughter of Comte Bertrand de Mun [himself the son of Comte Albert de Mun and of his wife, née Simone d’Andlau] and of his wife, née Marcelle Werlé [herself the daughter of Comte Alfred Werlé and of his wife, née Mathilde Lannes de Montebello]). Prince Wilhelm Alexander von Auersperg (b.1968, son of Prince Karl von Auersperg and of his wife, née Friederike Gräfin von Starhemberg) and his wife, née Elisabeth Flick, who married in February, had their first child, Aloysius Friedrich Alexander Gobertus Maria, on 30 March. (updated 6 Jan 2007)

Princess Aglaë von Auersperg-Trautson (daughter of Prince Gobert von Auersperg-Trautson and of his wife, née Ladislaja Gräfin Hoyos) married Eugen Wendelin Graf von Waldstein-Wartenberg (son of Georg Graf von Waldstein-Wartenberg and of his first wife, née Marie-Therese Matz Gräfin von Spiegelfeld) at Neuberg an der Mürz on 1 July. Feodore Fürstin von Auersperg, née Gräfin zu Solms-Baruth, died at Vienna on 23 March.

[She was born at Baruth on 5 April 1920, daughter of Friedrich Fürst zu Solms-Baruth and of his wife, née Princess Adelheid of Schleswig-Holstein. In 1942 she married Gert Schenk (1910-1957). In 1961 she married Karl Adolf Fürst von Auersperg, for whose death see below. She had two children from the first marriage and one from the second.] (added 6 Jan 2007)

Karl Adolf Fürst von Auersperg died at Vienna on 17 December.

[He was born at Goldegg on 13 March 1915, son of Adolf Erbprinz von Auersperg and of his wife, née Gabrielle Gräfin von Clam und Gallas. He succeeded his grandfather as Fürst in 1927. In 1937 he married Margit Gräfin Batthyány von Német-Ujvár (daughter of Ladislaus Fürst von Batthyány-Strattmann and of his wife, née Maria Theresia Gräfin von Coreth zu Coredo und Starkenberg). She died in 1959. In 1961 he married Feodore Gräfin zu Solms-Baruth (daughter of Friedrich Fürst zu Solms-Baruth and of his wife, née Princess Adelheid of Schleswig-Holstein). She died earlier in 2006. He is survived by two sons and three daughters, and numerous grandchildren.] (added 4 Jan 2007)

BENTHEIM-STEINFURT

Eberhardus Freiherr von Wrede and his wife, née Katharina Maritta de Beliczey de Baicza (daughter of István de Beliczey de Baicza and of his wife, Princess Marie Adelheid zu Bentheim und Steinfurt [herself the daughter of Viktor Adolf Fürst zu Bentheim und Steinfurt (1883-1961) and of his second wife, Princess Rosa Helene zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich (1901-1963)]) had their fourth child, Margarete Barbara Sofie, on 4 March. Countess Alida Aldenburg Bentinck, née Vlieger, died at Amersfoort on 21 January.
[She was born at Amsterdam on 16 December 1909, daughter of Frits Vlieger and of his wife, née Janna van der Weg. In 1961 she married, as his second wife, Adriaan Graaf Aldenburg Bentinck (1887-1968). Carl-Joachim vn Butler died on 24 February.

[He was born at Eisenach on 21 October 1941, son of Peter Richard von Butler and of his wife, née Heinke Iven. In 1973 he married Monika Gräfin zu Castell-Castell (daughter of Georg Friedrich Graf zu Castell-Castell and of his wife, née Gudrun von Eichel gen. Streiber. CASTELL-RÜDENHAUSEN

Dorothea Gräfin von Faber-Castell, née Mühlbach, died on 16 May.

[She was born at Bochum on 11 January 1948, daughter of Erich Mühlbach and of Helene Johanna Zange. Since 1984 she had been married, as his third wife, to Hubertus Graf von Faber-Castell (son of Roland Graf von Faber-Castell [himself the son of Alexander Friedrich Lothar, Graf von Faber-Castell, Graf zu Castell-Rüdenhausen, and of his first wife, née Ottilie Freiin von Faber] and of his first wife, née Alix-May von Frankenberg und Ludwigsdorff).] (added 21 May 2006)

Irene Fürstin zu Castell-Rüdenhausen, née Gräfin zu Solms-Laubach, died on 16 December.

[She was born at Laubach on 25 June 1925, daughter of Georg Graf zu Solms-Laubach and of his wife, née Princess Johanna zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich. Since 1946 she had been married to Siegfried Fürst zu Castell-Rüdenhausen (b.1916, son of Casimir Fürst zu Castell-Rüdenhausen and of his wife, née Mechtild Gräfin von Bentinck). Douglas Auff’m-Ordt (born 7 April 1917, husband since 1981 of Princess Antoinette von Croy [daughter of Duke Karl von Croy and of his first wife, née Nancy Leishman]) died at Dülmen on 23 February. (added 27 Feb 2006)

Francesco Compostella di Sanguinetto and his wife, née Damasine de Mevius (daughter of Eric de Mevius and of his second wife, née Countess Marguerite van Limburg Stirum [herself the daughter of Count Thierry van Limburg Stirum and of his wife, née Princess Marie-Immaculée de Croy]) had their second child, Matteo, on 26 February. Prince Philippe de Croÿ-Roeulx died at Chesnay on 24 June.

Comtesse Guy de Renesse, née Comtesse de Limburg Stirum, died at Brussels on 29 July.

[She was born at Huldenburg on 11 November 1928, daughter of Comte Thierry de Limburg Stirum and of his wife, née Princess Marie Immaculée de Croy. In 1954 she married Comte Guy de Renesse (1926-1987), son of Comte Philippe de Renesse and of his wife, née Amicie de Monteynard. She is survived by their three children: Comte Jean de Renesse; Marguerite, Princess Wauthier de Ligne; and Catherine, Comtesse Jean Cornet d’Alzius.] (added 1 Aug 2006)

Comtesse Edouard de Liedekerke, née Comtesse Clémentine d’Oultremont, died at Oudoumont on 26 August.

[She was born at Brussels on 5 April 1913, daughter of Comte Emmanuel d’Oultremont (son of Comte Adhémar d’Oultremont and of his wife, née Princess Clémentine de Croy [herself the daughter of Rudolphe, Duc de Croy, and of his wife, née Princess Nathalie de Ligne]) and of his wife, née Comtesse Antoinette d’Oultremont. In 1947 she married Comte Edouard de Liedekerke (son of Comte Pierre de Liedekerke and of his wife, née Marie-Thérèse de Hemricourt de Grunne). Princess Tassilo zu Fürstenberg, née Cecilie Blaffer (b.Houston, Texas 17 December 1919, daughter of Robert Lee Blaffer and of Sarah Campbell, and widow of Prince Tassilo zu Fürstenberg (1903-1989), son of Prince Karl zu Fürstenberg and of his wife, née Maria Gräfin Festetics von Tolna) died in the Bahamas on 17 November. Nicolas Freiherr von Pfetten-Arnbach (only son of Cajetan Freiherr von Pfetten-Arnbach [himself the son of Maximilian Freiherr von Pfetten-Arnbach and of his wife, née Marie-Elisabeth Gräfin von Harrach] and his wife, née Henriette Gräfin Khuen von Belasi) and his wife, née Kirsten Rae (daughter of Mr Thomas Rae and his wife, née Morna Armstrong), had their second child, Benedicta Maddalena Elisabeth Simone Maria Leonarda Frances, at Ingolstadt on 23 February. Thomas Richard Sinclair Buchan (son of David William Sinclair Buchan of Auchmacoy and of his wife, née Hon. Susan Scott-Ellis [herself the daughter of John Scott-Ellis, Lord Howard de Walden, and of his wife, née Irene Gräfin von Harrach]) and his wife, née Vanessa Birrell (daughter of Mr and Mrs John Birrell, of Melbury Abbas, Dorset) had their second child, Clementine Halo Isabella, on 19 December. Alice Freifrau Dreihann-Holenia von Sulzberg am Steinhof, née Gräfin von Harrach, died on 2 October.

[She was born at Vienna on 23 September 1916, daughter of Franz Maria Alfred Graf von Harrach and of his second wife, née Alice Gräfin zu Hardegg auf Glatz und Machlande. In 1940 she married Karl Freiherr Dreihann-Holenia von Sulzberg am Steinhof (1906-1978), son of Günther Romuald Klemens August Freiherr Dreihann-Holenia von Sulzberg am Steinhof and of his wife, née Gabriele Gräfin von Gudenus. HOHENLOHE-LANGENBURG

Princess Xenia zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg (b.1972, daughter of Kraft Fürst zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg and of first his wife, née Princess Charlotte von Croy) and Max Soltmann, who were married in a civil ceremony in 2005, were married in a religious ceremony at Langenburg on 26 August. Prince Christoph zu Hohenlohe-Lagenburg (b.1956, son of Prince Alfonso zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg (1924-2003) and of his first wife, née Princess Ira zu Fürstenberg) died in Bangkok around the 5^th of August. According to early news reports he had been arrested, apparently because of visa irregularities, and then had a sudden medical problem. (added 9 Aug 2006)

Princess Rosa zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg, née Bittermann, died on 30 July. She married in 1970, as his second wife, Prince Alexander zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg (1922-1993), son of Prince Ludwig zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg and of his wife, née Ilma Gräfin Hadik de Futak. (added 11 Sep 2006)

HOHENLOHE-OEHRINGEN

Prince Kraft-Alexander zu Hohenlohe-Oehringen died on 10 March.

[He was born at Munich on 2 November 1925, son of Prince Max Hugo zu Hohenlohe-Oehringen and of his first wife, née Marie-Gabriele Gräfin von Faber-Castell. He had been married four times: from 1949 to 1955 to Dagmar Engelbrecht; from 1957 to 1970 to Sibylle Dochtermann; from 1970 to 1979 to Ursula Rieck; and since 1988 to Renate Müller. Ingeborg Gräfin von Schall-Riaucour, née Schafnitzl, died on 26 August.

[She was born at Hamm, Westfalen, on 6 July 1921, daughter of Willibald Schafnitzl and of his wife, née Hildegard Lange. In 1959 she married Franz Graf von Schall-Riaucour (1929-1994), son of Andreas Graf von Schall-Riaucour and of his second wife, née Princess Josephine von Lobkowicz. Jakob Graf und Edler Herr von und zu Eltz gen. Faust von Stromberg died at Eltville on 10 February.
[He was born at Kleinheubach on 22 September 1921, son of Karl Graf u.Edler Herr v.u.zu Eltz gen. Faust v.Stromberg and of his wife, née Princess Sophie zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg. In 1946 he married Ladislaja Freiin Mayr von Melnhof (daughter of Friedrich Freiherr Mayr von Melnhof and of his wife, née Maria Anna Gräfin von Meran). They had nine children. Tatiana Fürstin von Metternich-Winneburg, née Princess Wassiltschikow, died at Schloß Johannisburg on 26 July.

[She was born at St.Petersburg on 19 December 1914/1 January 1915, daughter of Prince Hilarion Sergeievich Wassiltchikow and of his wife, née Princess Lydia Leonidovna Wiazemsky. In 1941 she married Paul Alfons, last Fürst von Metternich-Winneburg (1917-1992), son of Klemens-Wenzel Fürst von Metternich-Winneburg and of his wife, née Isabel de Silva y Carvajal. Felix von Quistorp died, apparently on 28 December.

[He had gone missing while on a walk on his grandfather’s estate on that date. His body was found several days later. He had apparently accidentally fallen down a well. He had been born on 7 October 1992, son of Karl-Alexander von Quistorp (himself the son of Karl-Johann von Quistorp [himself the son of Alexander von Quistorp and of his wife, née Theda von Falkenhayn] and of his wife, née Sigrun Matthies) and of his wife, née Maria Anna Freiin von Fürstenberg (herself the daughter of Erasmus-Elmar Graf von Deroy Freiherr von Fürstenberg [himself the son of Joseph Erwein Graf von Deroy Freiherr von Fürstenberg and of his wife, née Princess Marie Gabriele zu Salm-Salm] and of his wife, née Maria Antonia Gräfin Vetter von der Lilie [herself the daughter of Rudolf Graf Vetter von der Lilie and of his wife, née Dorothea Freiin Wenzl von Sternbach]). Ursula von Kotze, née Klinder, died at Rottach-Egern on 6 July.

[She was born at Neu-Babelsberg on 1 October 1917, daughter of Fredi Klinder and of his wife, née Katharina Kriegel. In 1949 she married Hans-Detlef von Kotze (1911-1983), son of Hans Ludolf von Kotze and of his wife, née Princess Charlotte zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. Hereditary Prince Heinrich zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn (b.Munich 3 Jan 1971, son of Alexander Fürst zu Sayn- Wittgenstein-Sayn and of his wife, née Gabriela Gräfin von Schönborn-Wiesentheid) and his wife, née Donna Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta (b.Rome 18 Feb 1975, daughter of Don Niccolò Incisa della Rocchetta and of his wife, née Giulia Aloisi) had their first child, Ludovico, at Milan on 5 April. Princess Lyna von Schönburg died on 21 April at the University Hospital of Lausanne, according to a death announcement from friends in the daily newspaper 24 Heures published in Lausanne. Presumably this was Lyna Rodriguez Maldonado (b.Brussels 3 June 1914), daughter of Carlos Rodriguez and of Carlota Maldonado.
