Archduke Simeon of Austria (son of Archduke Rudolph) and his wife, née Princess Maria of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (daughter of Prince Carlos of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Duca di Calabria) had their fifth child, Philipp, on 15 January. (added 19 Jan 2007)

Archduke Carl Christian of Austria (son of Archduke Rudolf of Austria and of his wife, née Baronesse Hélène de Villenfagne de Vogelsanck) married Estelle de Saint-Romain (daughter of  Pierre de Saint-Romain and of his wife, née Nora Boucharlat) at the Church of Saint Bruno de Voiron (Isère) on 2 June. The engagement was announced on 20 April 2007 between Johannes Graf von Meran (son of Franz Graf von Meran [himself a direct male descendant of Archduke Johann of Austria (1782-1859)] and of his wife, née Marie-Elisabeth Gräfin von Kageneck) and Tara G.J.M. Freeland (daughter of Anthony Freeland and of his first wife, née Astrid Sophie Maria Hedwig Antonia Deym, Gräfin von Stritez). (added 21 Apr 2007)

Dominik Graf von Habsburg-Lothringen (son of Christoph Heinrich Graf von Habsburg-Lothringen [himself the son of Heinrich Graf von Habsburg-Lothringen (himself the son of Archduke Heinrich Ferdinand of Austria-Tuscany and of his wife, née Karoline Ludescher) and of his wife, née Helvig Schütte] and of his wife, née Ebba von Mohrenschildt) married Pia Rittinghausen at the church at St.Andrä im Lavanttal on 5 May. Archduke Maximilian of Austria (b.1961, son of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria and of his wife, née Helene Gräfin zu Toerring-Jettenbach) and his wife, née Maya Askari (daughter of Mamoun Askari, of Iraqui ancestry) had their second child, Constantin, at Madrid on 4 June. (added 8 Jun 2007)

Archduke Ferdinand of Austria (b.1965, son of Archduke Heinrich of Austria and of his wife, née Ludmilla Gräfin von Galen) and his wife, née Katharina Gräfin von Hardenberg (who is a television presenter under the name Tita von Hardenberg), had their third child, Lara Sophie, in Berlin on 9 October. Mme Noel van Innis, née Ileana Gräfin Kottulinsky, died at Brussels on 13 October.

[She was born at Klagenfurt on 25 August 1958, daughter of Jaroslaw Graf Kottulinsky (himself the son of Karl Kunata Graf Kottulinsky, né Graf Dobrzensky von Dobrzenicz, and of his wife, née Maria Theresia Gräfin von Meran) and of his wife, née Archduchess Maria Ileana of Austria (herself the daughter of Archduke Anton of Austria and of his wife, née Princess Ileana of Romania). Archduke Carl Ludwig of Austria died at Brussels on 11 December.

[He was born at Baden bei Wien on 10 March 1918, son of Emperor Karl of Austria and of his wife, née Princess Zita of Bourbon-Parma. Since 1950 he had been married to Princess Yolande de Ligne, and is survived by her and their four children.] (added 15 Dec 2007)

Klaus Fischer-Stabauer and his wife, née Marie Bernadette Gräfin Kornis von Göncz-Ruszka (daughter of Thomas Graf Kornis von Göncz-Ruszka and of his wife, née Princess Maria-Theresia of Bavaria [herself the daughter of Prince Rasso of Bavaria and of his wife, Archduchess Theresia of Austria]) had their second child, Clarissa Maria Stephanie Erszebet, on 15 January. Prince Manuel of Bavaria (son of Prince Leopold of Bavaria and of his wife, née Ursula Möhlenkamp) and his wife, née Princess Anna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (daughter of Prince Ludwig-Ferdinand zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and of his wife, née Countess Yvonne Wachtmeister af Johannishus) had their first child, Leopold, on 13 June. Dr. Klaus Runow maried Princess Maria Anna of Bavaria (daughter of Max-Emanuel, Duke in Bavaria, and of his wife, née Elisabeth Gräfin Douglas) at Tegernsee on 8 September. (updated 9 Sep 2007)

Daniel Terberger and his wife, née Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria (daughter of Max-Emanuel, Duke in Bavaria, and of his wife, née Elisabeth Gräfin Douglas) had their second child, Ottora Elisabeth Victoria Lucia, on 13 December. (updated 19 Jan 2008)

Irène de Nicolay (daughter of Comte Robert de Nicolay [himself the son of Comte René de Nicolay and of his wife, née Princess Pia of Orleans-Braganza] and of his wife, née Princess Nathalie Murat) died on 10 April. (added 13 Apr 2007)

Eduardo de Carvalho Moreira (son of César [Faria?] Domingues Moreira, Brazilian Ambassador to Norway, and of his wife, née Maria Guadalupe de Carvalho) will marry Princess Maria Antonia de Orléans-Bragança (daughter of Prince Dom Eudes de Orléans-Bragança [himself the son of Prince Dom Pedro Henrique de Orléans-Bragança and of his wife, née Princess Maria of Bavaria] and of his second wife, née Mercedes Neves da Rocha) at Capela da Reitoria, in Rio de Janeiro, on 15 June. Eduardo’s brother, Nuno, married Maria Antonia’s cousin, Maria Carolina, in 2005. (added 22 May 2007)

I received the following information from a Brazilian correspondent: “Dom Eudes de Orléans e Bragança Filho will marry Patrícia Landau in 2008. His sister, the twin Dona Maria Francisca, is expecting a child ….next december. Dona Maria Carolina, Dom Pedro de Alcântara Henrique's daughter, is expecting her first son.” Eudes and Maria Francisca are children of Dom Edues de Orléans e Bragança (b.1939) and of his second wife, née Mercedes Neves da Rocha. Maria Carolina is their first cousin, daughter of Dom Pedro de Alcântara Henrique and of his wife, née Maria de Fátima Lacerda Rocha. (added 27 Nov 2007)

Prince Dom Pedro Gastão de Orléans-Bragança died at Seville on 27 December.

[He was born at château d’Eu on 19 February 1913, son of Prince Dom Pedro de Alcantara de Orléans-Bragança (himself the son of Prince Gaston d’Orléans, Comte d’Eu, and of his wife, Isabel, Princess Imperial of Brazil [herself the daughter of Emperor Pedro II of Brazil and of his wife, née Princess Teresa of Bourbon-Two Sicilies]) and of his wife, née Elisabeth Gräfin Dobrzensky von Dobrzenicz (herself the daughter of Maria Johann Nepomuk Wenzel Joseph Procopio Vincenz Menard Felix Graf Dobrzensky von Dobrzenicz and of his wife, née Elisabeth Gräfin Kottulinsky.) In 1944 he married Princess Maria de la Esperanza of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (daughter of Prince Carlo of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Infant of Spain, and of his second wife, née Princess Louise d’Orléans). She died in 2005. He is survived by their six children and numerous gradchildren.] (added 28 Dec 2007)

Antonio Muñoz Valcárcel (known as Kitín Muñoz) and his wife, née Princess Kalina of Bulgaria (only daughter of King Simeon of Bulgaria and his wife, née Margarita Gómez-Acebo y Cejuela) had their first child, Simeon, at Sofia on 14 March. DENMARK

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark (son of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and of her husband, Prince Henrik [born Henri de Laborde de Monpezat]) and his wife, née Mary Donaldson (daughter of Professor John Dalgleish Donaldson and his first wife Henrietta Clark) had their second child, Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe, on 21 April. Luis Alfonso de Borbón y Martinez-Bordiu, Duc d'Anjou (son of Alfonso de Borbón, Duque de Cádiz, Duc d'Anjou et de Bourbon, and of his wife, née Carmen Martinez-Bordiú y Franco), and his wife, née María Margarita Vargas Santaella, had their first child, Eugenia, at Miami, Florida, on 5 March. Alexander Patrick Gregers Richard Windsor, Earl of Ulster (son of Prince Richard Alexander Walter George of Great-Britain and Northern-Ireland, Duke of Gloucester, and of his wife, née Birgitte Eva van Deurs) and his wife, née Claire Alexandra Booth, had their first child, Xan Richard Anders, Lord Culloden, on 12 March. Hon. Mrs Angela Lascelles, née Dowding, died at Virginia Water, Surrey, on 28 February.

From 1952 to 1978 she was married to Hon.Gerald David Lascelles (1924-1998), son of Henry Lascelles, 6th Earl of Harewood, and of his wife, Mary, Princess Royal of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (herself the daughter of King George V of Greant Britain and Northern Ireland and of his wife, née princess Mary of Teck). Lady Katherine Brandram, Princess of Greece and Denmark, died on 2 October.

[She was born at Athens on 14 May 1913, daughter of King Constantine I of the Hellenes (himself the son of King George I of the Hellenes, Prince of Denmark, and of his wife, née Grand Duchess Olga Constantinovna of Russia) and of his wife, née Princess Sophie of Prussia (herself the daughter of Emperor Friedrich III of Germany and of his wife, née Princess Victoria of Great Britain and Ireland). The engagement was announced between Prince Aimone of Savoy, Duca di Apulia (son of Prince Amedeo of Savoy, Duca di Aosta, and of first his wife, née Princess Claude d'Orléans) and Princess Olga of Greece (daughter of Prince Michael of Greece and Denmark and of his wife, née Marina Karella). The wedding date had been variously reported as 1 and 8 October, 2005, and more recently had been reported to me as being set for 9 October 2005 on the Isle of Patmos, but is still unconfirmed as of October 2006. Princess Agnes of Liechtenstein, née Archduchess of Austria, died at Vienna on 31 August.

[She was born at Schloß Persenbeug on 14 December 1928, daughter of Archduke Hubert Salvator of Austria and of his wife, née Princess Rosemary zu Salm-Salm. LIPPE

Princess Veronika zur Lippe, née Holl, died at Starnberg on 8 August.

[She was born at Worms on 31 December 1915, daughter of Georg Holl and of his wife, née Josephine Giggenbach. In 1940 she married Prince Chlodwig zur Lippe (son of Leopold IV Fürst zur Lippe and of his first wife, née Princess Bertha of Hesse-Philippsthal-Barchfeld). He died in 2000. Marie Adelaide Louise Therese Wilhelmine Gráfin Henckel von Donnersmarck, née Princess of Luxemburg, died on 28 February.

 

[She was born at Schloß Berg on 21 May 1924, daughter of Prince Félix of Bourbon-Parma and of his wife, Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxemburg. Prince Floris of Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven (son of Pieter van Vollenhoven and of his wife, Princess Margriet of the Netherlands) and his wife, née Aimée Söhngen, had their first child, Magali Margriet Eleonoor, at Amsterdam on 9 October. (updated 10 Oct 2007)

Duke Paul of Oldenburg (b.1969, son of Duke Friedrich August of Oldenburg and of his first wife, Princess Marie Cecile of Prussia) and his wife, née Maria del Pilar Mendez de Vigo y Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg (b.1970, daughter of Jaime Mendez de Vigo y del Arco and of his wife, Princess Monika zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg), had their fourth child, Maria Assunta, on 21 March. Prince Wilhelm-Karl of Prussia died at Holzminden on 9 April.

[He was born at Potsdam on 30 January 1922, son of Prince Oskar of Prussia (himself the son of Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany, King of Prussia, and of his first wife, née Princess Auguste Viktoria of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg) and of his wife, née Ina Marie Gräfin von Bassewitz-Levetzow. Mrs Carol Lambrino, or Hohenzollern, known by some as Princess Carol of Romania, died on 13 June.

[She was born Antonia Colville on 29 May 1939, daughter of Edward Charles Colville and of his wife, née Barbara Joan Denny. From 1962 to 1973 she was married to Garry Lacon Jock Ropner, by whom she had a daughter, Emma Louise. In 1984 she married, as his third wife, Carol Lambrino, or Hohenzollern (1920-2006), known as Prince Carol of Romania, the son of King Carol II of Romania and of his first wife, Zizi Lambrino.] (added 24 Jun 2007)

Princess Catherine Ivanovna of Russia, Marchesa Farace di Villaforesta, died at Montevideo, Uruguay, on 13 March.

[She was born at Pavlovsk on 25 July 1915, daughter of Prince Ivan Constantinovich of Russia (himself the son of Grand Duke Constantine Constantinovich of Russia and of his wife, née Princess Elisabeth of Saxe-Altenburg) and of his wife, née Princess Jelena of Serbia (herself the daughter of King Peter I of Serbia and of his wife, née Princess Zorka of Montenegro). In 1937 she married Ruggero, Marchese Farace di Villaforesta (1909-1970). They had a son and two daughters.] (added 25 Mar 2007)

Fergus Lefebvre (youngest son of Mr and Mrs Paul Lefebvre, of Coonamble, New South Wales) and his wife, née Lady Lorna Theresa Ramsay (elder daughter of James Hubert Ramsay, 17th Earl of Dalhousie [himself the son of Simon Ramsay, 16th Earl of Dalhousie, and of his wife, née Margaret Elizabeth Mary Stirling], and of his wife, née Maralyn Butter [herself the daughter of Sir David Butter and of his wife, née Myra Wernher (herself the daughter of Sir Harold Augustus Wernher, 3rd Bt, and of his wife, née Countess Anastasia de Torby [herself the daughter of Grand Duke Michael Mikhailovich of Russia])]), had their first child, Archie James, in Australia on 26 April. Prince Nikita Romanov died in New York on 3 May.

[He was born in London on 13 May 1923, son of Prince Nikita Alexandrovich of Russia (himself the son of Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich of Russia and of his wife, née Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna of Russia) and of his wife, née Countess Maria Vorontzova-Daschkova. Alexander Fürst zu Schaumburg-Lippe married, as his second wife, the lawyer Nadja Anna Zsoeks in a civil ceremony at Bückeburg on 28 June, followed by a religious ceremony at Bückeburg on 30 June. (updated 30 Jun 2007)

Felipe, Prince of the Asturias (only son of King Juan Carlos of Spain and of his wife, née Princess Sophie of Greece and Denmark) and his wife, née Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano, had their second child, Sofia, at Madrid on 29 April. (updated 30 Apr 2007)

 

SWEDEN

Romuald Ruffing married Countess Catherine Bernadotte af Wisborg (daughter of Count Lennart Bernadotte af Wisborg, born Prince of Sweden [himself the son of Prince Vilhelm of Sweden and of his wife, née Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia], and of his second wife, née Sonja Haunz) at Mainau on 30 June, followed by a religious wedding on 7 July. Isidoro-Mariano Vejo Rodriguez (husband since 1969 of Princess Isabelle di Borbone [herself the daughter of Carlo Maria Ferdinando di Borbone, Conte di Roccaguglielma, whose paternal grandfather was Prince Luigi of Bouron-Two Sicilies]) died on 12 March (added 21 May 2007)

Count Carl Fredrik Creutz and his wife, née Princess Maria Annunziata of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (daughter of Prince Antoine of Bourbon-Two Sicilies and of his wife, née Duchess Elisabeth of Württemberg) had their first child, Sophie Elisabeth Anna Maria, in London on 11 June. (added 21 Jun 2007)
