Soyuz (Kontakt) 12 was the passive spacecraft of the second pair of Soyuz spacecraft that were planned to test the Kontakt lunar rendezvous/docking system in Earth orbit. By April 1969, two separate docking missions were planned to follow the triple mission of Soyuz 6-Soyuz 7-Soyuz 8. Soyuz (Kontakt) 12 would have been the passive spacecraft, simulating the LK lunar lander and would have been the docking target for Soyuz (Kontakt) 11.
