Curbeam experienced an ammonia leak while attaching a cooling line. Decontamination actions were taken to prevent the ammonia from entering Atlantis.

STS-98 Spacewalk 2 Curbeam and Jones provided visual cues for the installation of Pressurized Mating Adapter-2 (PMA-2) on Destiny. Other tasks included installing a vent to the lab's air system, attaching wires, handrails and sockets for future spacewalkers, and adding a Power and Data Grapple Fixture for the ISS's robotic arm.
