[Rev. 1-13-00] Minutes Reg. 3 Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) chat.ccc.uab.edu [room #r3spc] 12 January 2000 Attendees: R. Duggan (Chair), D. Caston, D. Powers, V. Powers, and W. Ratcliff (Vice Chair, corresponding). Ex-Officio: R. Riddle. Absent: D. Conner, R. Harris, D. Jackson, R. Thompson, and W. Sullivan. Visitor: C. Lord. 1. Minutes of 3 Dec ‘99 SPC meeting in Nashville, TN were reviewed, and a reference to the Operations Manual was added in item 12. See the 12/3 minutes on the Web at . 2. Bob Duggan reviewed SPC’s readiness for e-conferencing. With Deb and Vernon Powers and Dale Caston attending this meeting, the only SPC members who haven’t yet appeared for an e-conference are Dave Conner, Roy Harris, Dan Jackson, and Sully Sullivan. Both Roy and Sully are known to have installed the chat software already. 3. The draft goals & objectives for SPC were presented by Duggan. They are based on the Reg 3 Strategic Plan. No changes were suggested. The G&Os may be seen on the Web at . Mentors were reminded that their function, while advisory, includes encouraging the preparation of their cognizant committee goals and objectives -- and the subsequent reporting of progress there on. 4. Vernon Powers has been actively pursuing the Reg 3 History update. Joey DuVall has agreed to be the editor of the material. The history status may be viewed on the Web at . 5. Vernon Powers reported that the review of the Reg 3 ByLaws and Operations Manual re ad hoc committees, budget approval, and committee chairs approval is underway. The latest version will be on the Web. Wording differences between the ByLaws and the Ops Manual relative to committee chair approvals will be reconciled. 6. Bill Ratcliff reminded everyone to be sure and attend the 1/18 and 1/29 Reg 3 ExCom e-meetings. 7. Duggan expressed appreciation for the attendees’ participation. 8. Duggan announced the next face-to-face SPC meeting is tentatively slated for Friday evening 4/7 in Nashville in conjunction with SoutheastCon00. 9.
