MUSICAL SCORE

Paul Z. Livingstone

Student and disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar, Dr. Rajeev Tarnath and Amiya Dasgupta, Paul began intensive training in Indian music, living in India as a teenager. His musical breadth spans from the world music traditions of India, Africa and the Middle East to jazz, rock, funk, and hip-hop. Paul earned a Masters degree in world music from Cal Arts majoring in North Indian Classical Music and now composes for film, records and performs nationally and internationally. His upcoming CD release "Arohi" bridges many of these world traditions with a contemporary acoustic sound. He has also played recently on various pop albums including releases by Cypress Hill and Ozomatli. His most recent score was for the award-winning PBS film, "Turbans" which involved the blending of American folk with Indian Classical music. In scoring Swaroop, Paul is creating a truly unique sound which combines American urban music with Indian music.
