~~~Ann's Genealogy Homepage~~~
This site is devoted mainly to interest in genealogy and family history.
   I began pursuing my family history in the fall of 1990, with the encouragement of my longtime friend, Marian (Jenks) Claus (whom I've just discovered is my ninth cousin, twice removed!).  Like most genealogists, I have been obsessed with it ever since.
A little bit about me:
   I was raised in Owego, Tioga County, NY. I graduated from Owego Free Academy in 1977; from The State University College of New York at Geneseo in 1981; The Institute of Paralegal Training in Philadelphia, PA in 1986. Currently, I am a graduate student at Nazareth College of Rochester, pursuing my master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Be sure to visit the English Language Learner Consortium!
About my family:
My husband, Rich, has his own website.
Since 1996, our daughter Shannon has been performing
Irish Dance with The Boland School of Traditional Irish Dance.
This site is broken down into several parts:
Surnames - Alphabetical lists of surnames I am researching.
Rich's Ancestry - Begin with Rich, go back many generations.
Ann's Ancestry - Begin with Ann, go back many generations.
GEDCOM Files - OK, so I finally broke down and uploaded
most of my GEDCOM through Rootsweb World Connect.
Genealogy Library - I own several genealogy and research books
and I'd be happy to do 'lookups' from them. Check out my list!
Most Wanted Ancestors!!! - Help me, please!! These are the ancestors
who were dropped off here by UFO's.
Newer photos coming soon
Other distant cousins have established their own
homepages. Here they are, in no particular order:
Michael Jex - Scottish Clan Sterling Online
Natalie Cottrill - All the Tewksburys you'll ever need!
Jon Sterling - Also has LOTS of Sterlings in his database.
Mary Jean Williams - Lots of Susquehanna Co. PA information!
Timothy Bidleman - A Bidleman co-conspirator.
Ronald Stephen Saunders - Descendants of Tobias Saunders of Westerly, RI.
Hartman Publishing, Inc. - My cousin, Mark Hartman, publishes textbooks for health care professionals. Over 10,000 U.S. healthcare organizations trust Hartman Publishing's material to educate their staff. OK, so it has nothing to do with genealogy research, but he's my cousin! So there.
Genealogical Research on the Web:
Here are links to some of my favorite sites which have been instrumental in my research:
Cyndi's List - Links to just about everything known to the world of genealogy.
LDS - Family History Center - Search the I.G.I. or the Ancestral File at home!
USGenWeb Project - Each county in the U.S. has its own research page!
Rootsweb - See who else is researching your families.
Genforum - Research pertaining to specific surnames.
Rochester Genealogical Society.
Family Tree Maker's Homepage - I am RELUCTANTLY putting this link here. You might find useful information, but my strong feelings about the way FTM sells OUR research via the WFT CD's prevents me from speaking freely in this medium. I don't want any libel suits brought against me.
Some of my more notorious ancestors include:
Eleanor of Aquitaine, Of medieval European royalty.
Susannah Martin, a victim of the Salem Witch Hunt.
John Hanna , One of the earliest settlers in Barton, Tioga County, NY.
John Billington, of the Mayflower., Hanged for murder in the Colonies.
James Sterling, of Cornwall, CT. Many descendants in Susquehanna Co., PA.
Anne Dudley Bradstreet, Of Massachusetts; the first female American poetess.
