PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
FLIGHTLINE ELECTRONICS, Division of ULTRA ELECTRONICS HOLDINGS PLC, Fishers, NY 1999 - present
Vice President of Engineering
Responsible for all Engineering, Program and New Product Development aspects of the business. Multiple contract follow-on awards have resulted from high customer satisfaction on all programs in house. Pursuit of new product opportunities has allowed design team to branch into new receiver technologies, DSP-based positioning algorithms, amplifier development, system engineering and design consulting services.
Director of Engineering
Responsible for all Engineering, Program and Contract aspects of surveillance receiver and gyroscope product lines. Effective management of the group resulted in timely solution of key technical issues, dramatically increased customer satisfaction, and multiple new program awards.
HARRIS CORPORATION, RF COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION, Rochester, NY 1981 - 1999
Senior Principal Engineer
AN/PRC-117F Multiband, Multimission Manpack Radio: Responsible for all design, budget, schedule and manufacturability aspects of a 1.5 - 512 MHz Receiver/Exciter/Synthesizer for manpack, vehicular, and base station applications. Design particulars include a 1 - 1.5 GHz DDS synthesizer, a 959 MHz IF, stripline and microstrip circuits, and a 208-pin control FPGA.
Principal Engineer
Law Enforcement Radio System: Worked closely with customer to design a radio system for the law enforcement community. Successfully demonstrated a working prototype that contains land mobile radio, cellular radio and encryption circuitry. Wrote technical proposal for high volume production of this system.
150W HF Power Amplifier: Responsible for all technical, budget, schedule and manufacturability aspects of a 150 Watt HF Power Amplifier. The product was delivered on schedule to a satisfied first customer, 10% below the recurring cost goal.
Electronic Design Automation Leader: Reduced engineering development costs by purchasing multiple simulation tools, and integrating these tools with the company CAD, purchasing and manufacturing databases.
RF-1110C HF Power Amplifier: Responsible for all technical and budget aspects of a 1000 Watt HF Power Amplifier. Supervised staff of electrical and mechanical engineers, technicians, and drafting personnel to design a solid-state transmitter that satisfies both wideband and narrowband applications. A technically correct design resulted, for lower recurring cost than estimated, and was delivered on schedule to the first customer.
Lead Engineer
RF-755A: Responsible for the electrical and mechanical design of a 10 kW HF Power Amplifier. Traveled to several international sites to perform site surveys, installations and customer training.
RF-1132: Designed a 1000 Watt Power Postselector.
Senior Engineer
Technical contributor on numerous designs, including the
RF-382 HF Antenna Coupler and
RF-2601 HF Antenna Coupler.
Engineer
Design engineer on several amplifier products.
