Originally written in the 1840s and published in 1858. Each
illustration in this book is reproduced directly from Shaws original hand-colored
plates. He was a noted watercolor artist as well as a medieval scholar and a fellow
of the Society of Antiquarians, and this fact is clearly represented in the work contained
in this volume. Very colorful.
