Forrest cavalry Corps

7th Tennessee Cavalry, Company D

welcome to our homepage

7th Tennessee in line

The Seventh Tennessee Cavalry, Co. D was reactivated in 1986 with a goal to present an accurate and honorable portrayal of the Civil War cavalry from the western theater- and in particular, the Confederate cavalry troopers that served under General Nathan Bedford Forrest.

We have been blessed with a loyal and growing membership that is dedicated to a high standard of safety and authenticity; and a desire to remain one of the premier living history organizations.

Our impression covers the entire spectrum of the cavalry experience - from camp life to mounted and dismounted tactics.

The Seventh participates in battle reenactments, living history demonstrations, parades, memorials and historical documentaries. In addition, many of our members belong to heritage and historical preservation associations and conduct educational demonstrations for local schools and community events.

We invite you to visit our camp when we're in your area and please feel free to e-mail us with your questions or comments.

"Let us covenant each unto the other , as they did- even until death"

About our Site

This site is designed to provide information about our Living History Unit and the men that we portray. We believe it is important to preserve the tradition and heritage of the old "Horse Cavalry" for future generations as well as sharing this unique experience ourselves.

If you are a newcomer who is interested in joining our family, we invite you to check our Getting Started and Membership Requirements pages.

Improving Your Impression is designed to help you fine-tune your impression as a member.

The History page is the story of the original 7th Tennessee Cavalry, C.S.A. and The Honored Dead is in remembrance of those members who lost their lives in our greatest struggle.

Forrest and Cavalry Tactics analyzes the "Untutored Genius" and his tactical use of cavalry.

Historic Saddles is the history of the most common saddles in use by the Confederate cavalry in the West.

Schedule of Events displays our activities for the calendar year as well as information and links to upcoming events.

Related Links contains the e-mail addresses of our members as well as links to other sites of interest and is updated on a regular basis. We are always glad to reciprocate links with anyone who has a relevant site.

Dispatches contains the latest news for members.

More pages on helpful tips, drill manuals and news are under construction and will be forthcoming in the near future- and of course, we're open to suggestions.
