Impressive Numbers in a Historic Election --Janet Parshall

Pundits and members of the press are still mulling over the numbers from this year's election. And they should, because the numbers are stunning! Just listen to a few facts: Bush is the first president to win the majority vote since 1988, taking over 59.3 million votes. He won 11.8 million more votes than Bill Clinton in 1996. The president is the first president since 1936 to win reelection while helping the Republicans gain seats in both the House and the Senate. He was reelected with House and Senate majorities--and that hasn't happened since 1924. Bush saw increases among Latino voters, black voters and women voters. But perhaps the most significant figure of all is the number of conservatives who decided to vote. Five percent more showed up this time than last, raising the number to 34 percent who participated.

No matter how you crunch the numbers, the president and his party won a tremendous and historic victory.
