I Aaron B. Sturges - Master Carpenter of Fairfield do certify that the Sloop named the President was built by me, or under my directions, at Fairfield during the present year
1802, for myself and Brother Benjamin Sturges of said Fairfield, that said Sloop has one deck, one mast, is in length forty three feet in breadth, in depth six feet two inches and that measures forty six tons.
