Biography

Education:

1983-1987 Clayton High School. St. Louis, MO.

1985-1987 Honors Art High School, St. Louis, MO
Magnet Program specializing in Fine Arts, Design, and Applied Arts.

1987-1992 The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Chicago, IL. Fine Arts Major in painting and drawing. Studies also included Art History, liberal arts, creative writing, ceramics, photography, and art therapy.

1996-1997 The Corcoran School of Art. Washington, DC.
Fine Arts Major. Entered as a Junior. Provided with a studio space.Studied Art History, painting and drawing, collage, book arts, and paper making. Dean's List in 1996.


Internships/ Professional Experience:


1984 Mark Twain Summer Institute. St. Louis, MO. Summer school with accelerated learning programs. First Art Class.

1985 Saint Louis Art Museum. Art History Survey Class.
Taken as a prerequisite to the Museum Assistant program.

1985 Saint Louis Art Museum. Museum Assistant.
Assisted in Art education classes for children, and
in the slide library.

1991-1992 Contemporary Art Workshop. Chicago, IL. Cooperative Education Internship taken while a student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

1992-present Several Gallery and Art related jobs in St. Louis, Chicago,
and Washington, DC.


Awards and Recognition:

1986 Washington University in St. Louis. High school
art competition. Honorable mention for two pieces submitted in Design and metalsmithing.

1987 Washington University in St. Louis. High School art competition. Honorable mention for two pieces submitted in Ceramic Sculpture.

1987 Honors Art High School. Bader's Senior Award for Excellence in the Fine Arts.

1987 Honors Art High School. Outstanding graduating student recognition.

Exhibitions:

1988 The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. First Year Show. Two mixed media pieces exhibited.

1990 The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. "Pinholes",
a photography class exhibit.

1991 Open Studio Exhibition. In my storefront studio space in
Chicago, IL.

1992 Hamather/Garcia Space. Chicago. Group Show.

1993 Special Love, a benefit exhibit/auction for the Robert Taylor Housing Project Art Center. Chicago, IL.

1994 Caffe Trevi. Group exhibit of local artists and employees. Chicago, IL.

1994 Near Northwest Arts Council. "Sacred Memories".
Exhibit of regional women artists. Chicago, IL.

1996 Corcoran School of Art. "80 Works" exhibit. Show of each juniors' 80 pieces in all media created within an intensive two week period.

1997 Corcoran School of Art. Group Show at the Georgetown
facility of students in Mindi Weisel's abstract painting and
collage classes.

1997 South Shore Cultural Center. "Women of Vision", a group show sponsored by the Chicago Park District.

1998 Artspace. Corporate presentations of my artwork by
co-founders Pam Fredericks an Flora Kantor. Washington, DC.

1999 Project Space. A group exhibiion of the Fine Artists applying to the District of Columbia Commission on Arts and Humanities Grants-in-Aid program. Washington, DC.

2000 Art-O-Matic. A phenomenal group exhibition that highlighted the work of over 700 artists. A month long extravaganza. Washington, DC

2000 One Hundred Dollar Art Sale. Housed in the former Kultura Bookstore Space in Dupont Circle, Washington, DC.

2001 Labor Day Art Show, Glen Echo Park-National Park Service
sponsored show in Glen Echo, MD.

2001 Absolute Arts/ Worldwide Arts Resources. A website showcasing international artists, providing them with a free webpage (www.absolutearts.com )and a plethora of arts resources to research.

2002-Labor Day Art Show, Glen Echo Park-National Park Service
sponsored show in Glen Echo, MD.
