Emergency Contraception is extremely easy to obtain for UIHS patients by simply calling the pharmacy staff at (707) 825-5020. The UIHS pharmacy has an agreement with the medical staff that allows UIHS patients to get emergency contraception as soon as possible. You may be contacted by the medical staff for follow-up consultation. Please remember, you must take the emergency contraception pills within 72 hours of unprotected sex!

Sometimes this treatment is called the "morning after" pill. This term is actually not correct because you have 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex to start emergency contraception. However, the sooner you get emergency contraception, the more effective it will be!
